Survivor S38 Power Rankings (Top 8 + 8 EI)

imageTo see not one but TWO returning players go home in just one hour, this season surely isn’t messing around. But now it really makes me feel like a returnee will be coming back into the game. Aubry, David, Kelley, and maybe even Joe have unfinished business and I could see any of the four coming back depending on what the challenge is. But right now, we have Wardog making the biggest move of the season with all the underdogs, Aurora, Rick, and Victoria, plus Ron, who flipped on his alliance of Julie, Lauren, and Gavin. Now, Lauren finds herself on the bottom with an idol. Will she be the third person to be sent home with an idol in her pocket? Or will she be the first to use on correctly?

8. Gavin Whitson- Gavin has a lot working against him. His edit sucks (he’s the person I know least about), he was vocally opposed to David (which means Rick probably can’t trust him very much), and he was on the bottom of this vote. While I could see him and Lauren making a move, there’s a good chance he could get some stray votes if Wardog’s new alliance decides to split the votes. Gavin is on the bottom of a group that isn’t super tight, so I think there’s a good chance we see Gavin go home this week.

7. Julie Rosenberg- Ron just betrayed Julie’s trust. So who does Julie have left? I could see Julie having a meltdown and if she’s not in the mood to make a huge move, she could just lay down and let them vote her out. I don’t know if she’s done just yet, but I really don’t think she’s in a very good position.

6. Rick Devens- Rick won immunity when he needed it. While he was on the top of the numbers for the Kelley vote, we mustn’t forget that he was also the only person who voted to keep David. If he doesn’t win immunity, he could be an easy boot, especially with Lauren having an idol that she’ll most likely play this week.

5. Dan “The Wardog” DaSilva- Wardog made the biggest move of the season. But what will the fallout be for him? He’ll either continue to run the game as the puppet master and win the game, or people will realize how dominant he’s been and turn on him. Wardog had a tight bond with Lauren and Kelley (or so we thought), and now that bond with Lauren is severed. So I hope Wardog can find an “in” with someone else, but right now, he doesn’t seem to have a tight “number two.” Then again, does anyone have a solid number two now that Rick’s right hand man is gone and Lauren’s right hand gal is also gone? Ron voted opposite of Julie, so I really don’t think there are any tight duos left.

4. Lauren O’Connell- Aubry had an idol, got sent home with one. David and Rick had an idol, didn’t need to play it. Kelley had an idol, got sent home with one. Lauren has an idol. She’s right in the middle of these rankings for the sole reason that nobody with an idol has fared well so far this season. If anyone makes a correct idol play, it could be Lauren. She is on the bottom now, so she can’t possibly feel safe. But then again, Aubry and Kelley felt safe enough to hold onto their idols. So Lauren is totally a wildcard this episode.

3. Aurora McCreary- Aurora is always going to be the “safe vote” at each tribal…which is exactly why she’s going to be safe. With this unpredictable season, it wouldn’t make sense to take out Aurora, the person that nobody is really threatened by except for Julie. Aurora is vocal enough that she could be off-putting and the perfect person to take to the end. The only threatening thing about her is her challenge prowess, but knowing that Eric, Chris, Joe, or Kelley could be returning, there clearly doesn’t need to be much of a worry on challenges. Aurora has an extra vote that she used to gain trust in Ron. Ron seems to be the top dog right now, so Aurora could fit in nicely with Ron’s plans and actually propel herself forward this episode.

2. Victoria Baamonde- Victoria may not be the flashiest of players, but Victoria has been on the right side of every. single. vote. She is the only person to vote correctly on EVERY. SINGLE. TRIBAL. She voted for Aubry, she voted for Wendy, she voted for Joe, she voted for Eric, she voted for Julia, she voted for David, she voted for Kelley. She has been in on every vote, and I think that’s a lot to commend her on. If there’s anyone smart enough to maneuver herself to the end, it’s Victoria. She just has to make one more big move like the Aubry boot if she wants to have a chance of actually winning. Right now, she’s a little bit too quiet, but when she makes a move, she’ll immediately be the front-runner in most people’s eyes. She’s still my pick to win.

1. Ron Clark- Ron seemed like his season was over when Eric went. But since then, he’s been a prized vote. Everyone wants Ron’s vote. Julia did. David did. Kelley did. But he seems to have been siding with the right side of the numbers, and it’s exciting to watch. I don’t think anyone is threatened by him either, as there are still people like Wardog, Aurora, and Lauren out there, who are SO much more cutthroat than Ron is. Ron has a great shot of making it to the end. I don’t know if he can win, but he could be like Mike from last season who makes it to the end on social game, and gets a few votes in the end.

With Ron and Victoria being on the valuable numbers going into this week, it’ll be interesting to see who gets targeted. Gavin seems to be after Wardog, Julie will still be after Aurora, but Gavin, Lauren, and Julie seem to be on the bottom, and Rick is still a threat to Lauren. This is a wild week, but I think the safest bet is to say that they’ll try to go for Lauren, but will split the votes on either Julie or Gavin…Lauren will play her idol, and either Gavin or Julie will be sent home for that reason.

PREDICTIONS:

Going Home- Gavin Whitson

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And now for the EXTINCTION ISLAND rankings:

8. Reem Daly- Reem’s still there. It may not look like it, but she’s there.

7. Julia Carter- Julia is there too, and she makes sassy faces at tribal council. She’ll be sitting there at final tribal council, but only as a juror. She won’t be returning to the game.

6. Joe Anglim- On a season where Joe Anglim is catching lots of fish and going full survival mode, he sure has been getting a pretty crappy edit. I forgot Joe was even there until David brought his name up. If Joe was going to return, he’d be more heavily featured in the edit. I just can’t imagine him coming back considering we’ve heard far more from Aubry, David, Eric, and Chris so far…even Reem.

5. Kelley Wentworth- Kelley immediately told everyone that she had an idol and that Lauren had an idol too. Is this good gameplay? Is this benefitting her game whatsoever? It just makes her seem like more of a fluke for going home with an idol in her pocket IF she makes it back in, and if she doesn’t, then she’s just throwing her ally Lauren under the bus for whoever DOES make it back in. Yikes Kelley. Not your finest Survivor playing.

4. David Wright- David is probably my favorite of the season. Either him or Aubry. While I really want David to come back, I just don’t see him winning a challenge to come back in. I think David will be good for screen time, though I think my girl Aubry has a better chance of making it back into the game.

3. Aubry Bracco- My girl Aubry has an advantage but the fact that we didn’t hear from her this week could mean that Aubry’s screen time has phased out. I sure hope not, but I don’t know if she’s a sure winner like she was when she got that huge advantage a few weeks ago.

2. Eric Hafemann- Eric still has a good shot of making it back in. He had a confessional this episode, something that Aubry, Joe, Julia, and Reem didn’t get. He is probably going to be a contender to make it back.

1. Chris Underwood- Chris got a confessional. While he didn’t really do much, he’s still been heavily featured. Also, Rick mentioned in tribal council that he blindsided Chris. Could this be foreshadowing that Chris comes back to seek revenge on Rick eventually? Or was it to just show how epic the blindsides have been thus far? I may be looking too far into the editing, but Chris could very likely win his way back.

PREDICTIONS:

Quitting- None

Staying on Extinction Island- Reem, Chris, Aubry, Joe, Eric, Julia, David, and Kelley
