Still reeling from Tinashe’s elimination, we are now faced with my favorite night of DWTS, DISNEY NIGHT! LET’S GO!!!!!!!!!!!
9. Joe Amabile and Jenna Johnson- Joe obviously struggles with nailing every step, but this was definitely the most fun Joe has had this entire time. I can’t say it was a success amongst everyone else, but for Joe personally, this was his best.
8. Bobby Bones and Sharna Burgess- Well, it was better than Joe’s. I think there was just such an odd stiffness in the beginning, but it did get better in the second half. I still think he’s one of the weakest there and the fact that he keeps performing toward the end of each night means they’re trying to play him up. I just don’t buy it.
7. DeMarcus Ware and Lindsay Arnold- This is not the song I would’ve chosen from Hercules. But I think DeMarcus fit the character well. Unfortunately, I still think he’s plateauing, not getting better. He just seemed too stiff, which made it tough to truly nail all of the Charleston steps. I’m worried he peaked too early, and is just there to have a good time at this point, with the Mirror Ball a not-so-realistic goal anymore. Being in jeopardy probably doesn’t help either.
6. John Schneider and Emma Slater- John had so much fun and it was obvious. John just always consistently puts a smile on my face, and this was beyond impressive amongst everything John has done just because of how quick it was. I think he lost it a bit at the end, but the energy never died. So much fun.
5. Evanna Lynch and Keo Motsepe- This was so spot-on in terms of the dancing content itself. I think there could’ve been a little more emphasis on storytelling, but that’s more on Keo’s part. Evanna nailed all her steps. She embraced the character and really had a great time, and it was obvious. I enjoyed the hell out of this.
4. Mary Lou Retton and Sasha Farber- Mary Lou is just a joy to watch. I am so grateful she chose to do this show. It was so sweet and pure, and Len was right about the fluidity. Mary Lou, for her age, moves extremely well and deserves to go much further in the competition. Just so sweet.
3. Juan Pablo Di Pace and Cheryl Burke- I think Juan Pablo did a great job with this routine. I agree that it’s hard to go from a perfect thirty and continue topping yourself week after week. But this was a solid return to form. Juan Pablo just exudes so much confidence that is just infectious to watch. And he fit the character perfectly. This was one of the standouts.
2. Milo Manheim and Witney Carson- Milo delivered tonight and brought so much fun to the ballroom. It was by far the most fun of the night, and while there were a few minor faults, he gave it his all and was clearly one of the many showstoppers of the night. So close to the best.
1. Alexis Ren and Alan Bersten- Alexis was absolutely beautiful tonight. The way she just soared across the dance floor with such grace and effortless movement. It really impressed me and kicked off the night on an extremely high note. This has been her best dance of the season, and I cannot be more happy.
Thank god nobody went home, because I didn’t wanna see Alexis, the best of the night, get sent home. That being said, she better be safe next week. As for who goes home, I really don’t know. When in doubt, I’ll just pick Grocery Joe.
