America's Got Talent S13 Power Rankings (Semifinals, Week 1)

Aaron Crow made it over five way more deserving acts. Hans, Future Kingz, UDI, and Rob Lake, I didn’t love you guys, but you ALL deserved it more than Aaron Crow. And Joseph O’Brien? One of the best voices there. A shame. Here we are with more AGT in the Semi-Finals. One of my favorite acts, Front Pictures, was brought back and we got to see returning front runners like Michael Ketterer and Zurcaroh take the stage again! Can’t wait. Here we go.

11. Front Pictures- I love these guys, but this performance was a tad underwhelming. Not buzzer worthy Simon, but definitely underwhelming. Damn. I just think the lack of time showed, as they obviously didn’t have a ton of time to put it together having just received the wild card. With more time, they really could’ve made something spectacular. Probably the biggest let down of the SemiFinals.

10. Us the Duo- I love their sound and their relationship, but it seems like the Duo is becoming a bit repetitive in the style of their music. I wasn’t a big fan of their music this time, and feel like it paled in comparison to many of the other more explosive, impressive acts of the night. I like them a lot, but think that this is not a Vegas worthy act.

9. Voices of Hope- The timing between soloists and choir was a bit off, but their sound is lovely to hear, and I’m glad they got their spotlight in this competition. Is it enough to garner a spot in the finals? Probably not, but they certainly do have a shot because of their passion and emoting to the lyrics.

8. Amanda Mena- I absolutely loved the beginning of this. Such a cool slower take on Pharrel’s “Happy.” Unfortunately, when she decided to take it up a notch in speed, the vocals were thrown aside a bit. Pretty mixed for me, but I do think she has a killer voice. Will she advance? I don’t think so. But well worth the semifinal spot.

7. Makayla Phillips- I know the judges didn’t love it, but I thought this was even better than Amanda. Her vocals were clearer, better on pitch, and had more impressive runs and sweet spots. I still think the judges’ comments will hold her back from advancing, but I personally liked it and think she has one terrific voice.

6. Junior New System- I’ve said from the beginning that Junior New System is my favorite dance crew out of Da RepubliK and Future Kingz, who have similar styles (I don’t count Front Pictures, UDI, or Zurcaroh because they’re totally different styles and rely more on spectacle). Junior New System is absolutely terrific and a lot of fun to watch. They stepped it up when they needed to and could easily find themselves in another Dunkin’ Save.

5. Samuel J. Comroe- This was Samuel’s best since his audition. I absolutely loved his material this time around and think he has a really good shot making it to the next round. Just hilarious.

4. Michael Ketterer- Michael has such a good voice, but an even bigger soul and spirit. Though it was a bit pitchy, this was a step up from last week and I seriously believe he is going to be remembered for years to come. He’s a great guy and a true talent.

3. Duo Transcend- Holy crap. The trapeze stuff was nothing new, but the addition of the flames and roller skates was one of the most exciting but nerve-wracking moments of the season. I loved this so much and hope they move forward.

2. Zurcaroh- This act is insanely good. I preferred last week’s theme to this one, but that doesn’t discredit how incredible they truly are. One of my favorites of the night and easily the best dance troupe this show has seen in seasons.

1. Shin Lim- Shin Lim is one of the best magicians AGT has ever seen. Mat Franco will always be my favorite in illusion, but Shin knows his way around card decks. They should team up because this seriously is one of the best AGT acts ever. This is insanity. He has literally mastered the art of card tricks and he already has a Vegas stage awaiting him. Seriously one of the best acts in any AGT semifinal ever.

I love all the top 5 acts in my ranking, so I assume those will be the five that go through. If anyone is going to spoil, it’ll be the Junior New System or maybe one of the two younger girls, Amanda Mena or Mikayla Phillips. I’m gonna say Samuel, Duo Transcend, and Junior New System end up in the Dunkin’ Save and we see Shin, Michael, and Zurcaroh get those 3 prime spots. With Junior New System being the casualty going home.

Going Through- Shin Lim, Michael Ketterer, Zurcaroh, Samuel J. Comroe, Duo Transcend

Eliminated- Junior New System, Amanda Mena, Mikayla Phillips, Front Pictures, Us the Duo, Voices of Hope
