MasterChef S9 Power Rankings (Top 20)

imageOkay, I’ve been tough on Mark for the beginning of this game, but now I am officially well acquainted with everyone on the show, so I’ll finally stop harping on Mark. I was way wrong with Stephanie and Olusola’s eliminations (I had them 6th and 9th). So here goes. I’ll probably be way wrong again.

20. Julia Danno- She’s the only person that we literally know NOTHING about. I am going to say she goes home early, so why not make her this week’s casualty.

19. Gerron Hunt- Poor Gerron was so close to the bottom and almost went home. I think he’ll be in this competition not too much longer…but at least he is likable and will probably be good in the upcoming team challenge.

18. Darrick Krause- Darrick is so hit or miss for me. I really think he has potential, but he could be someone who is constantly on the bottom. This week, he was both on bottom and good on the benedict. He’s been heavily featured, so I think he’ll go further. But how far will he really go?

17. Ryan Cortez- Ryan had a crabby beginning (?), but did well on the benedict challenge. We’ll put these guys in the middle-bottom range.

16. Samantha Daily- Poor crab performance, good benedict.

15. Matt Houck- Another person who did poorly, but redeemed themselves in the main challenge.

14. Lindsay Haigh- We don’t really know much else about Lindsay, but she did well in a crab challenge. At least the New England chef cooks New England meat well.

13. Farhan Momin- I had Farhan in the top spot last week, but he really cracked under the pressure (is that a crab pun? Cracked? Cracked shells? Ah, it’s a stretch). I really think this was a misstep, or we’re just setting up a big elimination coming up. There’s usually one or two shocking eliminations from early on favorites. So Farhan could be in danger. I’m giving him a chance.

12. Ralph Xavier Degala- Okay, so Ralph’s benedict. Wow. That looked like the best one by a mile.

11. Alecia Winters- Alecia certainly bounced back from her first episode, and was definitely safe. Maybe those who have a rocky start truly do clean up in the end.

10. Mark Ingraham- Mark rocked it with the crab. This is the culinary school he needed, and if he keeps going along this path, he could be a dark horse. I misjudged the kid, and apologize for being so harsh on him.

9. S.J.- S.J.! Who are you? We still don’t know, but the last name thing is still intriguing. Let’s go S.J.!

8. Cesar Cano- Cesar is a gem, but we still aren’t getting enough from him and I really hope we see more.

7. Juni Cuevas- Juni is always shown. Never the star of the show, but always there. He has a good shot of making it deep.

6. Ashley Mincey- Ashley went from one great episode to a subtle edit again. I don’t know where Ashley will end up but she is a favorite.

5. Emily Hallock- Emily is really solid in the kitchen, and is also one of the strongest chefs in terms of confidence and leadership, so I think a team challenge will be where she shines.

4. Taylor Waltmon- I like Taylor and truly think she’s improving every single challenge. This girl could end up being unstoppable.

3. Chelsea Sargent- She won the challenge, but still had a pretty minimal edit. What the heck? Masterchef, c’mon, this girl is incredible. Will she be able to lead a team challenge? I’m not so sure. But her cooking is good enough to probably take her deep in this competition. 

2. Bowen Li- Bowen rocks it every time. Bowen is a star. Give Bowen every award.

1. Shanika Patterson- Shanika is my winner pick, and I think she still is. She couldn’t eat crab but still rocked the crab challenge. Back at the top Shanika goes.

I don’t want Julia to go because I know nothing about her. But that’s a safe bet right? Go Shanika! She's my favorite.
