Most people say Guatemala is a forgettable and boring season, but I LOVE the setting, the tribe names, and what it could've been. It had a lot of basic filler people pre-merge and unveiled the stupid "captain" returnee-type season. But it had great moments, like Steph's descent from hero to villain, Judd, Jamie vs. Bobby Jon, Margaret Bobonich, and Gary Hawkins and the Idol.
Samoa has a better cast but the editing was AWFUL and unbalanced, so you barely know the Galu tribe and even the winner is underdeveloped in the edit, making her seem undeserving at first glance, even though Nat played the better game. But it gave us Russell as a new age villain, which led to HvV.
Danni is such a boring winner though and Samoa occured during my Survivor emergence as a super fan.
I like them both, but I'd go with Samoa. Pre-merge Guatemala was probably more interesting because of the swaps, but I thought the post merge Samoa was waaay better. The Foa Foa comeback was really awesome to watch. The blindsides and strategy was much better in Samoa
