That isn't exactly what he said. He said he'd prefer male patients because he doesn't think there are a lot of male therapists out there and he would like to help males. i think it's okay to have a preference as long as you're trained and willing to help other genders as well.
I agree with cherita. He never said he didn’t want to help female patients, just that he wanted to help males. I don’t see it being very different than any medical provider having an area of interest or speciality in their practice
I know this isnt thereapy specific, but there are providers who mainly exclude certain genders. OBGYN's dont generally see cis men.. If hes not discriminating against women, and has a passion for mens mental health, I don't see a gigantic issue. Many therapists focus on LGBT therapy, womens therapy (following an assault), etc.
If I was a provider, I would 1000% not discriminate based on sex/gender, but I dont have a passion for gender specific healthcare either. So idk. I read the blog and it seems like you twisted his words.
