We have so many deaths to get through today... so let’s get to them, shall we?
-Taking Cover-
Jaxine: Someone’s coming, we have to hide!
Glamour: What?! who???
Jaxine: I don’t know, but we can’t let them know we’re here!
The two immediately look for places to hide. Glamour finds a small bush to hide behind, but it only seems big enough to hide one person.
Jaxine: You hide there, I’ll find somewhere else.
Glamour: Are you sure?
Jaxine: Yes I’m sure, just don’t make a sound! I’ll find another spot to hide.
Glamour hides behind the bush while Jaxine desperately looks for a place to hide.
However, as she looks, she finds herself locking eyes with the person she and Glamour were trying to hide from.

It’s Luka.
For a moment, Jaxine thinks he’s about to attack her for leaving the career pack. But then, Luka speaks out.
Luka: Where the hell have you been? We woke up yesterday morning and saw you were gone!
Jaxine realizes that Luka doesn’t know she left them on purpose.
Jaxine: I... I heard something and I ran off.
Luka: And you didn’t come back all day? Holy shit, you’re as single minded as your district partner!
Jaxine seems to be a little relaxed now. However, she doesn’t know how she’s gonna get out of this.
Luka: You know what else we saw? After we discovered you were missing, we found Samuel dead on the ground!
Jaxine: Oh... really? Wow.
Luka: You don’t seem too surprised.
Jaxine tries to think of a way out.
Jaxine: Well... I... already knew he was dead. I saw his picture projected in the sky.
Luka: Oh yeah, that makes sense... anyway, what are you doing out here?
Jaxine tries to think of an answer, but can’t come up with anything. Therefore, she results to a different method to avoid suspicion.
Jaxine: I... I could ask you the exact same question. Where are the other careers?
Luka: Everest left to look for Samuel’s killer. I ran off trying to stop him, but I can’t find him anywhere.
Jaxine decides to ask a question about Samuel to throw suspicion off of herself.
Jaxine: How did Samuel die? Like, was a weapon in his head still? Or was it taken out?
Luka: No, it was...
Luka then has a confused look on his face.
Luka: Wait... how do you know something was stuck in his head?
Jaxine realizes she screwed up.
Suddenly, a noise can be heard in the area where Glamour is hiding.
Luka: What’s over there?
Jaxine internally panics, and quickly thinks of a response.
Jaxine: Wh-what are you talking about? That’s just the wind blowing in the bushes.
Luka: The bushes, huh?
Jaxine then panics as Luka walks over to the bushes.
Jaxine looks like she wants to say something, but she doesn’t wanna look suspicious.
Luka carefully lifts the bushes aside and sees Glamour laying there.
As Luka begins to look at Glamour, he is suddenly tackled to the ground.
Jaxine is now on top of him, trying to hold him down.
Jaxine: Glamour, run!
Glamour then stands up, but all she can do is watch the fight between Jaxine and Luka.
Luka is able to overpower Jaxine’s grasp, and he suddenly knocks her to the ground and climbs on top of her.
Luka: You’re a traitor!
Luka holds out a knife and gets ready to kill Jaxine, but as he raises it...
He can suddenly feel something large and sharp enter his neck.
Glamour was able to retrieve an axe from Jaxine’s bag, and she used it to kill Luka.
Luka bleeds out with the giant cut in his neck very quickly.
BOOM!
Jaxine: I... I told you to run... you could’ve died.
Glamour: Oh please. I’m not a kid, I can fend for myself! Stop worrying about me, careers aren’t known to do that.
Jaxine laughs, partially with relief.
Glamour: You know what? I got the next night shift. You look like you need some sleep anyway.
The two then head back to their camp. They have no idea that Everest was secretly watching the entire event...
-The Rising Sun and Sea-
It is now clear morning and the sun is visible.
Tee and Maddox have slept in trees last night as an extra precaution against the sand Leeches in the water.
Maddox is the first to wake up, but he sees something very alarming.
He sees that the sea water is has risen to foot level overnight.
Maddox stares fearfully at the water, afraid that there could be Sand Leeches everywhere.
Maddox: Tee, wake up!
Tee wakes up, and Maddox tells him about the risen water.
Tee: Oh shit...
Maddox: What are we gonna do?
Tee: Maybe... since we’re wearing shoes, they can’t get to us? I can test it out.
Maddox: No! You could die!
Tee: If I DO die, then you’ll know not to make the same mistake.
Maddox watches nervously as Tee jumps down from the tree.
Tee’s feet hit the ground.
...

...
Nothing happens.
Tee: Hey! It’s safe!
Maddox then jumps down. Nothing happens to him either.
Maddox: Wait... I don’t even see the leeches anywhere in the water...
Maddox, testing something out, sticks his hand in the water.
Tee: Hey, what are you doing?
Nothing happens to Maddox.
Maddox: They’re not here! The leeches are gone! We could walk through the water barefoot if we wanted!
Tee then decides to test this theory. He takes off his shoes, and he is completely safe.
Tee then runs to the beach, which is only a few feet away, and sees no sign of leeches!
Tee: Where did they all go!
Maddox: Well... maybe they only appear in the sand? That would make some sense...
Tee’s eyes widen. He has now realized he is standing barefoot on the sand covered beach.
Tee: Oh shit...
Tee attempts to step back to the grassy woods, but suddenly feels a pain in his foot.
Tee: Ah!
Tee can feel the pain spreading. His life is now flashing before his eyes as he thinks of the pain that lies ahead.
Maddox: Wh-what are you doing out there?
Tee attempts to pull the sand leeches off of his foot, but he just ends up getting bitten again on his arm.
The poison is now spreading faster than it did with Eisha.
Tee can feel his throat closing in, and tries to give Maddox a piece of advice right before he loses his ability to speak.
Tee: R-runnnn....
Tee’s skin begins turning red as his veins turn purple.
Tee suddenly struggles for breath. Eventually, he falls to the ground dead.
BOOM!
Maddox then begins running away, now all by himself.
Maddox is running through the woods, trying to find a safe place to hide from the leeches... even though he figured out that they only appear in sand.
Eventually, he runs into someone. But it’s not someone he wanted to run into.
It’s a career.
Maddox runs backward afraid of what the career might do to him.
He eventually find himself back in the center of the arena, in the cornucopia.
As he’s observing his surroundings while running, he trips.
Maddox tries to stand back up, but realizes... the cornucopia area was a sand filled area.
He can feel several bites on his arms, legs, and even his face.
The position spreads almost immediately. He stands back up, but all he can do is watch in horror as the veins in his hand turn purple, and his skin becomes red.
He then feels that he can’t breathe, and eventually drops into the water.
BOOM!
The career Maddox bumped into witnessed the whole thing.
Suddenly, a second figure joins the career.
It’s Glamour.
Glamour: What... what the hell happened...?
The career, Jaxine, has a look of worry on her face.
Jaxine: We need to get off the ground... NOW!
The two then get off of the ground and climb up separate trees. They are there for quite some time.
-Two Hunters-
Smithson and John have been spending the day searching for careers. They haven’t had any luck, however.
They are walking through the watery ground, unaware of where they are.
Suddenly, the ground shakes a little bit.
Smithson: Where are we?
John: Somewhere unsafe, I can guarantee you that...
Smithson: We haven’t found any careers anywhere...
John: Let’s just keep looking. We gotta run into them at some point.
The two continue walking. After a few minutes, Smithson notices something unusual.
Smithson: Hey... that’s a big rock.
John: Uhh... yeah, it’s a big rock. So what?
Smithson: I just think it’s weird over here, that’s all.
John: I mean... rocks can be found anywhere in nature. I don’t think it’s that weird...
Smithson: But... where else in this entire arena have we seen rocks this big?
John: I don’t know... nature is just weird like that.
Suspicious, Smithson tries to observe his surroundings.
Through the trees, he can see the volcano.
Then, everything makes sense. The rock. The rumbling.
Smithson then notices John is walking toward a liquid substance in the water.
Smithson: John STOP!
Smithson is too late in warning John.
John’s foot submerges in the liquid, and then turns a bright glowing red-orange color.
After a few seconds, John begins screaming in pain.
Smithson rushes to help him, careful of where he steps.
Smithson takes John’s leg out of the water to reveal a mess of blood and leather. Lava is a dangerous thing.
John is still screaming out in agony as his foot melts and bleeds even more.
Smithson: Goddamnit! I’m gonna get you out of here!
John: I-I can’t feel my legs...
Smithson can see that John looks extremely dizzy.
John: Kill... kill the careers for me.
Smithson then sadly watches John bleed out from his injury.
BOOM!
Smithson gently drops John’s body in the water, and takes a few of his knives.
Keep in mind that Smithson only has one arm, and does all this with his only arm.
He then runs off, hoping to make John proud.
-The Return-
It is now late at night. The career camp is looking scarce.
Sugar: What a day. We couldn’t find a single tribute, and Everest and Luka haven’t come back yet.
Hans: Do you think they’ll be back soon?
Anna: They’re probably both dead. I can’t imagine another reason as to why they haven’t come back yet.
???: Well... Luka did die. How he died... may surprise you.
The three careers suddenly look behind them after hearing a voice coming out of nowhere.
It’s Everest.
Hans: Everest? Where the hell have you been?
Everest: Well... let’s just say it’s hard to find your way back to camp when you have no map. But I finally found you guys, and I think I know who killed Samuel.
Anna: Really? Who?
Sugar: And did you say that Luka is dead?
Everest: Yeah... I saw our old ally kill him. It’s Jaxine guys. She’s betraying all of us.
Anna: What? Why would she do that?
Everest: Come on Anna, think about it! We saw a giant wound in Samuel’s head. It seemed like a wound you would get from an axe! What other tribute here is good with axes? It’s gotta be her.
Hans: And... how do you know she killed Luka too?
Everest: I saw her kill him! From behind the bushes in the distance, I watched her swing her axe into his neck!
Sugar: Wait... if she was right there, why didn’t you try to kill her?
Everest: She wasn’t alone. That girl from District 8 was helping her.
Anna: She... she’s working with the reaped tributes? What a disgrace!
Hans: She’s a traitor... and she needs to pay.
Everest: Tomorrow morning, I suggest we hunt her down and make her pay for her traitorous actions!
The other careers cheer in agreement.
Suddenly, they are cut off from their celebration when the fallen tributes are projected in the sky.

The careers then go to sleep to prepare for their big hunt tomorrow. They have to sleep in trees tonight since the ground is covered in seawater.
Anna once again secretly looks at Hans as if to signal something, but Hans nods his he’d again and mouths the words “Soon.”

Tomorrow... the final day of the game will begin! At the end of the day... only one tribute will still be alive.
