Welcome to the results of the Round 7! Unfortunately, here at the top 10 the cuts only get harder, but let's get started!
This round, you were tasked with submitting a HYPE song - a song full of energy that just pumps you up and gets you excited. Let's jump right in, and the following can step forward as they are SAFE for this week (in submission order, of course!)
Heavenlee - Chris Brown - "Forever" ILoveLarry - Wham! - "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" purplebb4 - Charli XCX feat. cupcakKe - "Lipgloss" J2999 - Martin Garrix feat. Bonn - "High On Life"
Congratulations you four, and I'll see you next round!
Let's move on to the top 3 submissions for the week...
Once again, you come in with an unexpected choice that I wasn't aware of, and the song just kind of goes off. I thought this was a really great song that really fit the category and I enjoyed listening to it. You've been on an upward trajectory in this competition and setting yourself up as a true contender to win this whole thing. Very well done.
Well, well, well, what do we have here? This is your first appearance in the top three, and for very good reasons! This song really was a bop and featured all the energy that I really need in a good hype song. The danceability factor and upbeat track had this song really fit for this round and this is a wonderful improvement for you. Great job.
Making your fourth appearance in the top three, this song was one of your strongest submissions yet. Embarrassingly, I have to admit that I have not heard this song before. BUT, this introduction really came at a perfect time. The beat is UP and this is a jam through and through, the lyrics even reinforce how much of a hype song this really is.
The winner this week is...
Congratulations #Insanity! You've stayed close to the top, and finally, you've reached it! Let's just hope you keep up this momentum! #FromAWindow and #Kevin0621, you're both safe. Great job!
Let's take a look at our bottom three submissions of the week...
Becca, I really hate putting you in the bottom again because we've talked music together before and I know you have good taste and that we enjoy some of the same music. But, this submission was just unfortunate. In your feedback of "Rose-Colored Boy" back in Round 4, I mentioned not being so much of a fan of pop-rock Paramore and listed this song specifically as one of my least favorite. The song is just extremely repetitive and the irony of Hayley Williams singing about living in the real world is not lost on me.
So I've loved most of your out-of-the-box submissions through the competition so far, but this one kind of fell flat. I think the lyrics and the instrumental are both extremely solid, but there's something about the production of the voice that just isn't great and kind of turned me off of the song. It's not a horrible song, but in a week with a lot of at least decent submissions, this one didn't really make the cut.
Marwane - Cheat Codes x Kris Kross Amsterdamn - "SEX"
Errr, this song just kind of left me feeling... odd? It's just a less cohesive/decent version of the 90's classic. This song has almost no business existing to begin with, and mostly left me feeling uncomfortable, not hyped.
I'm sorry Becca, but this week your song was the worst and it couldn't survive past this point. #tbrown_47 and #Marwane, you're both safe, and I hope to see y'all improve next week.
Congrats to the Top 9, I'll see y'all soon with the Round 8 blog!
That is all.
