Okay, so, I’m a huge Disney nerd and Tangled is one of the best movies Disney has made. And this… is my favorite song from the movie. It’s so sweet, both Zachary Levi and Mandy Moore sing it beautifully, and it perfectly encapsulates both characters tremendously. This was a wonderful submission and the nostalgia really hit me hard with this one. After placing in the bottom 3 twice already, I’m glad you came back strong with this choice.
Christian_ - “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me” from Burlesque
I think this song perfectly summarizes your journey so far - you started off strong, and barely avoided elimination last week after being in the bottom two weeks in a row. I’m actually not a huge Cher fan, nor have I even seen this movie, but I loved this song and really enjoyed it. Great job this week.
Sob story moment, but I had a really good friend pass away from a medical condition when I was just 13. She was a huge musical nerd and as a result, my choir sang a tribute to her family at a choir concert with a mash-up of “For Good/Defying Gravity”, and since then, I’m not really able to listen to Wicked without remembering that and feeling emotional. The vocal stylings are just so good and this musical will always get to me. A great song from a great musical.

While all of the submissions were strong, I had to go with the one that I really felt a lot for. Congratulations on the win, #purplebb4. #ILoveLarry and #Christian_, y’all did great, you’re safe this week. Way to step it up.
So, I think that this is an okay song that I think did get a lot of hate due to it being overplayed, but it’s kind of a solid bop. But it’s just not an amazing song and really got outclassed by a lot of really strong submissions this week.
Okay, so like “Can’t Stop the Feeling”, this song definitely suffered from being overplayed… But unlike “Can’t Stop the Feeling”, this just isn’t a good song. It’s not horrible, but kind of just boring. I think the story is tragic and RIP Paul and everything, but the tribute could have been much better. Wiz Khalifa is just not an artist I ever really appreciated and can’t help but think that there could have been much better artists for this. Charlie’s pretty good in it though.
Admittedly, I’ve never seen a Trolls movie. This clip was the first I’ve ever seen of any of them. This was… kind of weird? As I was listening, I thought this song would just be safe, but as it went on, it kind of just kept getting worse. I guess on theme with the movie, the song tries to combine several musical styles, which is… a choice? It just never worked and continued to become more and more disjointed as it went… This is not a song I’ll be returning to anytime soon.
