TDA Ranking #11

Jul 1, 2013 by Bryce333
I just finished my rewatch of Total Drama Action, and I'm going to do a ranking of the fifteen competitors.
*
NOTE: This is a ranking of their characters on Total Drama Action, NOT their characters on TDI or TDWT.

#11. Courtney

WHAT DID THEY DO TO HER?????? This one kills me to write, because I LOVE LOVE LOVE Courtney. I think she's one of the most realistic characters on the show, both with good qualities and bad. She'd probably rank in my top 5 for TDI, because her story was EPIC. For the first time, she was learning how to have fun, and it was chiseling some of that competitive edge out of her. In TDWT, she was also amazing. Again, we saw her begin to let loose and her friendship with Gwen was amazing. Then the whole epic DuncanxCourtneyxGwen love triangle hit and it was glorious. She was great in both seasons.

And then TDA happened. Everything that made Courtney likeable in TDI, such as her learning how to let loose and have fun, was completely thrown out the window. She became a raging, comp-whoring bitch. I love my villains, and Courtney was a great villain. But she was also SO ANNOYING. Heather and Alejandro were much better villains because their game decisions were all strategic. Courtney made all her decisions personal, except maybe the Justin blindside.

Her personality was wretched. The reason she had so many fans in TDI was because she started out super annoying and then gradually got to be really relateable. But in TDA, she had no room for personal growth. And if it was just all about competition for her, I wouldn't mind. But Courtney didn't just like to win... she liked to watch others lose. The WORST Courtney moment in TDA was the murder mystery challenge. She thought she deserved a prize, so she whined NONSTOP like a three year old until Chris handed her a bag of chips. She proceeded to then shove those bags of chips down everybody's throats for the rest of the challenge.

It was moments like those that really made miss that awesome girl who stole food from Chef's fridge with Duncan in TDI. She was SO stuck-up, especially around Lindsay and Beth. Her biggest flaw though, was failure to admit her own problems. Again, in TDI, she finally began to allow herself some freedom, and gained the knowledge that maybe it wasn't so good to be so uptight all the time. But in TDA, she refused to listen to other people's opinions. For example, she volunteered to go last on the "Vomit Comit" ride in the space movie challenge, which was a BAD decision. And if she had just allowed Beth to speak, they could have gone first! She then proceeded to get MAD at Beth and end the girls-only alliance. As if Beth was selfish for choosing to tough it out and win immunity!

The reason why Courtney ranks above Geoff, Bridgette, Owen, and Duncan is because she was actually a good antagonist. I hated her, and I hated her personality. She beats out boring Bridgette and wannabee villains Geoff, Owen, and Duncan. Geoff was just a jerk, Owen was pathetic, and Duncan got boring. Courtney was definetley somebody who was easy to hate, but I didn't love to hate her. I hated to hate her, because I knew how awesome she could really be! What I wish would have happened is that Courtney started out as a major villain, and kept the villain status, but gradually begin to see the error of her ways, so that by the end, she'd be competitive enough to make strategic decisions, but tolerable enough to NOT give Duncan a three hundred page letter stating all of his faults. Like, what crazy bitch DOES that? (Well, Aaryn from BB15 probably would)

Sorry Courtney. All of her good qualities disappeared in TDA, which was an absolute travesty.

HINT for #10: Was a Killer Grip
