About the Charity

3 Yoshitomi, Jul 30, 2016

I'd say every year we get a case of a Kumbaya Charity. A charity where everyone likes each other and no one wants to vote anyone out. "Let's trust the lovely Algo which isn't in anyway programmed by Rando to prevent charities." Oh wait! It is. XD

While I'm on board with the logic of, "I love my friends, I'd hate to evict any of you!", a charity game is STILL a game. A declaration is not enough, you still need to work for the win.

If you sit back and think, "It's a charity, it'll be fine", you're forgetting about 2 key things on Tengaged:
1) Backstabbers
2) The Tricky Algo
If you rely on everyone without paying attention, you open yourself up to losing. If you trust in the algo, you open yourself up to the random evictions.

Random.
If everyone gets 0 votes, then EVERYONE is up for eviction since EVERYONE including the safe people also have 0 votes.
Simple logic. That's how it's programmed.

Now even so, why is the holder usually evicted? Here's why:
1) Kumbaya charities usually also imply that everyone is being plussed. Since the holder isn't especially highly plussed, they're just as likely to be evicted by the algo.
2) In charities where everyone is plussing the holder, if the holder is not plussing or negging anyone, they themselves could still be considered less active.

All in all, you cannot sit back and rely on others or the algo to go in your favour. If you want a successful charity, you have to earn that win.

As the holder of a charity, you need to be,
- Active
- Aware of the plussing/negging situation
- Communicating with everyone in the game
- Getting HoH and PoV
- Having some affect on the HoH nominations and PoV use
- & you need to know when not to presume something and ask for advice about something like "What happens if no one votes?"

Side note: As someone who helps random charities, I volunteer to be evicted to avoid situations like this one.

And I've not tagged anyone because I don't remember who was in the game. I'm a one-tab-at-a-time kinda girl and I'm on my phone, don't wanna lose this whole blog just to find out. XD

Do you guys like charities?

On one hand, charities are the reason most Tengagers can even afford shit (me)
On the other hand, it's like cheating for extra karma, and sometimes people do not even deserve a charity.
What do you think?
