It’s been 6 years since my city took a big hit and suffered from a terrorist attack. It may just be “another Monday” for you guys but for me, it’s a day of remembering not only 4 of my own who lost their lives but remembering the bravery of first responders and surviving victims and just the city as a whole.
April 15th 2013 was just a normal marathon Monday. People all over the state gathered to either watch or compete in the Boston Marathon. It was around lunchtime that a bomb was set off and exploded at the finish of the Boston Marathon on the corner of Dalton St and Boylston St. a solid 5 seconds later, another went off near the same area. Hundreds were injured on the spot but 3 didn’t survive the bombings. These terrorists, known as the “Tsarnaev Brothers” then went on the run. Later that night, they were spotted but not captured, the older brother, Tamerlin was shot dead by his brother over an argument after they shot and killed a responding MIT officer. Throughout the week, Bostonians everywhere were asked to stay indoors as the whole city was on lockdown so they could find the bastard. Later that week, Friday night to be exact. a man heard noises coming from a boat in his backyard, after calling the police, they discovered the 2nd brother Jahar in the aforementioned boat. The police caught him and soon lifted the lockdown.
6 years went by quickly. Seems like yesterday I was a freshman in high school and got a text that said what happened.
As I say every year when I blog this, Only Boston would shut down the city for an entire week just to catch one guy. Don’t fuck with us, you won’t win.

Two years since the Boston marathon bombings already. For those who don'y know me well I'm from Massachusetts and Marathon Monday used to be a holiday for us but now its one of the saddest days of the year, up there with 9/11. For Massholes especially its one of those "You remember where you were" kind of moments and I vividly remember seeing a tweet that "Gunshots were heard near the marathon finish line" then pictures of blood stains on the sidewalk, then eventually the video of the bombs going off and seeing first responders rushing in. Then staying indoors watching the news as the manhunt began and the brothers were identified and their security camera videos released. Finally I remember going bowling with a few friends the night that he was captured in a boat in Watertown MA. That's my story.
Its shocking the way that a moment can change a holiday into a day of grieving

Having lived in Boston for over 10 years today is a sad day, but its great to see the city come together during the past year after the events.
