I love how colorful the fashion is in Nairobi and I was also inspired by the creative patterns and out of the box silhouette in this photo.

in this photo, I definitely want to show that I'm not about suits and ties. I want to show I can wear much more comfortable clothing that makes me feel lighter and set a nice charming aura.

Colors, patterns and geometrical shapes.
After a long research about the typical costumes from Nairobi i could find a path so i can go.

I decided for this shot I wanted to model something that was colorful and played with texture and shape a little bit.

I looked up similar fashions in Kenya and it seems like they love to do color blocking. Where they have a solid color, and then a section with a unique pattern- which is what I decided to do with my outfit! Where the top while still has color blocking is a little more simple- and the bottom has a fun pattern.

My picture of today is a mixture between Nairobi's street style which is urban with a touch of my own favorite style; retro.

I picked this location because I feel that this building and its surroundings nicely blends with my outfit’s colors & the style I chose!

Personally I love the fashion style of the people of Nairobi, Kenya and so I’ve done my best to fit in with their distinctive style.

When I researched their urban fashion I noticed how vibrant and in your face their designs are. When I think of their clothing the first thought that comes to my mind is that they use as many different colours that they possibly can to create unique patterns and shapes on their outfits.

So in my photo today I wanted to use all the colours I could to make a vibrant outfit with two differing patterns to show just how out there yet captivating their fashion is.

Hello everyone this was a really difficult challenge to judge as everyone had different interpretations to the challenge, I can’t wait to delve into these photos!

Doja - Hello Doja! I think this is really smart as it screams high fashion and it’s very colorful. I also really like your dynamic posing as it gives a sense of geometry as well which I see a lot in the Nairobi fashion world. Everything works really well and I really enjoy the colors, my only complaint which is a pretty big one and how since everything is the same color and pattern it makes your body blend a bit all together and there’s nothing else in this outfit to break up the color or patterns, maybe a belt or some sorta accessory could work, overall I enjoy seeing this different side of you.

Woobin - I get this challenge was tough but I do think reading other critiques from previous weeks that I give others can be beneficial because your photo is CLUTTERED with words, and while I get it’s a magazine cover, for a modeling competition like this you need to find the photo without the words because it distracts me and overwhelms my eyes. As for the outfit, I don’t get a lot of colors which was what I mainly wanted to see but I do see a connection to some outfits I see when I google Nairobi fashion for men so I think it’s a solid look with just nothing to stand out. I do love your facial expression though in this and think everything blends together… just get rid of that damn text.

Jackson - I honestly think this is pretty genius, sure there’s a lot of empty space and I don’t I would rather you look at the camera, but you’re held is tilted just enough that I can see your facial expression, I think your pose is very intriguing and I do love the incorporation of that giant prop right next to you. As for your outfit I can definitely see the inspiration behind Nairobi culture. My only nitpick is that I wish you had something other than jeans and black boots but honestly I really like this photo from you and I hope this is a huge step in you rebounding from the last two weeks.

Liu - Dang you look really tall here but I’m kinda here for it? I really also like how you provided an inspiration photo, and I can see how this outfit makes you even taller, and the posing and everything seems perfect. The outfit isn’t exactly what I would be looking for, as the chains (i think they are chains?) kinda throw me off but the green and everything really match some of those outfits in the inspo, and I think I could see a version of this on the streets of Nairobi so you did a really good job!

V - I like the direction you went with this, also I enjoy how you are showing a new side of yourself in this which gives us variety. I do see the retro but modern feels to this. I do wish I had a bit more layers to appreciate and everything was so tucked in, like I do see there’s tucked in pieces when I research Nairobi pieces, but I also notice there's a lot of loose free pieces that also layer into it. It’s very simple and very effective, but I did kinda want to see a little bit more added to this ensemble to really bring this over the top, overall though this was an effective outfit, and I think you did a good job.

Rianne - I’m a bit conflicted by this because at first I really enjoy the dynamic posing you are giving, and how fierce your face is looking, plus your outfit is giving colors and shapes which is what Nairobi fashion is about. The only issue I think I’m finding is how I wish it was a bit more zoomed in and I saw more of your outfits. Like sure it isn’t an exact match as to what cultural influences I’m looking for but I do realize that’s kinda impossible for some models. I do think you did a good job with what you're given. I just wanted to see more of you and what you were modeling. Overall though good job!

This was really hard to judge as I think everyone did good with what they were given so I wish you all luck!
