imageSorry for the delay chefs, I was busy with a top-secret tengaged meetup. But without further ado it's time for some critiques.

This week was all about DONUTS. I actually had a donut this morning, I'll admit they're kind of a bit much for me in the morning most of the times, but I can still appreciate them and enjoy one on occasion. So while I might be somewhat harder to please in this department... most of you impressed me. So good job for paying attention chefs.

Let's deviate from the posting order a bit this time:

Absol - I can understand wanting to take a SAFE route after last week and I think you succeeded there. These donuts look very inoffensive and the flavor is something I'd be down for. Presentation is nice. And I appreciate the coffee. Just a little zzz.

rollingderp - I'm... somewhat indecisive on this donut. Relying on Dunkin could be seen as lazy but I am a Dunkin purist so I'll allow it. I also LOVE the idea of a mocha donut. The crunchies on top is... an interesting addition that might be a little unnecessary in my mouth and messy to eat if not firmly placed. But the visual effect of them is nice. My biggest qualm is I'm assuming by the shape of the donut that it's FILLED, which I don't typically prefer. That's a little too much for me usually. Although I will say, a chocolate/mocha filling in this donut is probably the least offensive filling there could be. So in total... I would probably like this donut, though my picky ass might be hesitant to pick it out.

HowLovely - I don't believe I've had a coffee cake donut before, but you're correct to assume I'm a fan of coffee cake, so I'd definitely eat this right up. She looks delicious and crumbly. I feel like this conceit might be a little inelegant on a donut compared to say, a muffin or something else more BREADY/CAKEY and is compatible with the coffee cake flavor/consistency.

splozojames50 - So see above, filled donuts are a bit of a miss for me. I can very much appreciate the effort and thought put into the flavor profile of this donut, and it sounds like good flavors to me. I'd even probably try this and like it. But I can't help but feel like she sounds REALLY overly decadent. She's really ushy gushy my pussy in a way that looks really appealing but I know would sit not so nicely in the stomach. Overall, very nice visual appeal though.

The four of you... are all SAFE this week. You can leave for the PopOver lounge, congratulations.

The six of you remaining had the highest and the lowest scores.

TheGoodMan - So I'll be honest, a cronut is also something I've never tried, but I'm very sold on it based on this presentation, so good on you chef. I love me that croissant texture and I think THAT's a new genre of donut that works elegantly. The icing, if not a little excessive-looking, I'm guessing is justified based on the RICHER croissantesque taste. So this was definitely something rather UNIQUE I could appreciate. Strong dish once again.

EbonyGothChild666 - So you were one of the two late submissions... and this dish did not impress me. I'm immediately reminded of the months-old, pre-packaged, frozen-and-subsequently-thawed-out donuts I'd sell at the grocery store bakeshop, with shitty, plastic-looking frosting just like this, and a similarly egregious amount of festering, fading sprinkles on top. Once again I also have to critique that your dish is something of a mystery - the INSIDE of this donut is what? A surprise? Up to the imagination? Some shit?

Yaxha - So see above, filled donuts are a miss for me, and unlike the other girls, there's very little redeemable about this donut for me. She's pretty much ALL white ass gushy filling that I don't really need in my life. I'm unpleasantly surprised because I feel like you DO pay some attention unlike some other chefs... and you should have known this would not impress me. I do appreciate choccy frosted though.

Queenisha - So this was another very safe choice.... but this hit the nail on the head pretty effectively tonight, because I'm boring and usually just go for the old faithful chocolate frosted donut, though I'll say hold the sprinkles usually. Not much else to say, but I can appreciate a chef who has that INTUITION for my tastes. Since your return you've really shown up.

Olympia - These look DIVINE. I love a good chocolate donut and coffee icing is a HIT for me. Chocolate/coffee is one of my favorite combinations too. Stellar presentation, sprinkles on a donut WOULD be a little much for me in other contexts but chocolate jimmies are very inoffensive IMO. I feel like the effect is perfect and this would go great with the coffee. Well done chef.

@Ribbons - you were also very late this week, and also similar to Ebony didn't have much of an explanation for this dish, so I have to make assumptions. I'm assuming this is a standard cookies n creme/oreo donut, which isn't like, the WORST imo, but to be honest the glare of this photo is making that topping look like DIRT. Not very appetizing at all. I'm also unpleasantly surprised with you, given your strong track record thus far.

It's time to reveal my final VERDICT.

Good job once again this week, but you still can't quite snatch it. You're safe, you can leave the stage.

Queenisha and Olympia, one of you is the winner of this challenge. Congratulations....

OLYMPIA. This hit ALL the right notes for me, a job VERY well done. You and Queenisha can both return to the PopOver lounge.

Three of you remain, and you all disappointed me gravely.

I've given you enough chances love, this mediocre late submission didn't cut it for me this week. I'm sorry, your ride ends here.

But you're unfortunately NOT the only one leaving tonight.

I'm sorry, you're also OUT. I don't think anyone had much excuse to be late this week.

Yaxha, you are very lucky... I'ma give you ONE MO CHANCE. But don't disappoint me again. You are safe.

Next challenge soon chefs, hope you've enjoyed the brief recess. It's back to the kitchen again soon.
