Good morning everyone and welcome to a very exciting day, as today we will reveal the winner of the first ever Music Taste competition.
I'd just like to say a big congratulations to our final three, you all submitted great entries for this round, and every song held up in it's own right. However, only one of you can win.
For this round, our contestants had to submit three songs of their choosing. No theme, no brief, just three songs that encapsulated their Music Taste and that they enjoy listening to.
So, I think I have kept you all waiting long enough, without further ado.... the results.
Taking third place in season one of Music Taste is...
Cold Little Heart by Michael Kiwanuka (5 points)
River by Leon Bridges (6 points)
Yamaha by Delta Spirit (3 points)
Franz I'm sorry you fell short here, but you have been an outstanding competitor these last few days. In terms of your submissions today, I thought they were all good songs that dragged out a little too long. I love his voice in River, but it got a little repetitive and dragged on at the end. Cold Little Heart had a great message, whilst Yamaha I thought was your weakest submission - it just didn't hit the mark for me.
Now for second place, coming as the runner-up in Music Taste is...
Lemonade by Jeremy Passion (4 points)
Bruises by Lewis Capaldi (9 points)
Sanctuary by Joji (2 points)
Congratulations on finishing in second place, Oliver! You have been a great competitor throughout the show, and you didn't disappoint with your song entries. Bruises by Lewis is such a brilliant song, his voice is EVERYTHING. I thought your other two songs, however, were weaker. Lemonade was a bit of a nothing song whilst I've never been a fan of Joji, and this affirmed that really.
Therefore, the first ever winner of Music Taste is...
Roar by Katy Perry (1 point)
Shallow by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper (8 points)
Set Fire to the Rain by Adele (7 points)
CONGRATULATIONS MARK! You have stolen the crown and become the first ever champion of Music Taste! After your first entry for the final I was quite disappointed, Roar is pretty basic, but your other two songs were ballads that really hit a punch. Fantastic vocals, backed up by meaningful lyrics and catchy tunes, you are a deserved winner - a true front-runner throughout the season!
And with that S1 of Music Taste has come to an end. That doesn't mean we're done though, applications for season two are already open! This time we are expanding to a fully-fledged group game, with a panel of judges. Returnees are welcome!
Good game everybody, tysm Alfie!
