#SeongWoo: LOONA/ODD EYE CIRCLE - Girl Front
Ok so, you are kinda lucky here because one thing I was doing while I was away for so long was getting into Loona (by accident, through work LOL) so I am a bit familiar with their stuff now. I did have to look into the sub group just to make sure it counted and sure enough, ODD EYE CIRCLE is 3 people. What did I think about the song? Yeah this is pretty cute. I like their sound, and though I’d say I like other songs by Loona as a whole a bit more, this isn’t a bad venture into their side projects!
#Booyahhayoob: Green Day - Know Your Enemy
I mean, of course Green Day is generally a safe bet with me (as long as it’s one of the good ones). This isn’t my favorite song of theirs but it’s also nowhere NEAR my least favorite! I loved this when it first came out, even bought 21st Century Breakdown (the album) when it dropped because of this and 21 Guns. It’s pretty good!
#LaCroix: TLC - No Scrubs
I’ve always preferred a certain other TLC single to this one, but this is still really good! I’m always down for some legendary R&B jams from the ladies of the 90s. THIS is the kind of submission I’ve been waiting for from you in a main round, and you have DELIVERED! This is some great stuff right here.
#UsernameThatWasFree: Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus & Lana Del Rey - Don’t Call Me Angel
Look, I’m a pretty big fan of both Ariana and Miley generally. If this was an Ariana/Miley collab, this would be pretty great imo. Well, Miley does a great job here as usual, Ariana is a bit weaker but I can overlook that because I like her voice. …unfortunately, this is not a duet. The second Lana enters, the energy just completely dies. The momentum dies. This song falls flat on its face the second her part begins and I’m sorry but it just kills the song for me. Going back into the chorus after that feels jarring.
#Spinfur: Taylor Swift ft. The Civil Wars - Safe And Sound
YES. YES. YES. I LOVE THIS SONG. I have ALWAYS loved this song. Holy FUCK. Anyone who has EVER said Taylor has no chemistry with other artists, this song is as hard a counterpoint as it can possibly get. They just work SO WELL together. This is among Taylor’s best (fight me) and I’ve always found The Civil Wars to be criminally underrated. This piece is full of melancholy, yet hope at the same time. It’s a tragic yet beautiful look at the world around them. How dangerous everything is, yet how they know they’ll be safe regardless. I love it.
#Zeptis: Paramore - Decode
So I looked up the lyrics and… is this song literally just about Twilight? Like, I know the song was written for the movie, but did they actually just write the song about the plot of the movie? Anyway, Paramore is a band I’ve always wanted to like more than I do, they consistently sound great but something just doesn’t click for me about half of the time. I hate to say it, but I don’t think this one has clicked for me all that well. It’s not bad though, it sounds great as their music tends to do. I’d say it’s good but not great.
#Austino15fffan: Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Heads Will Roll
Look… This isn’t a bad song by any means. It’s just never done much of anything for me. The instrumental is great but I kinda find her voice to be headache inducing, and I couldn’t find myself getting invested in the lyrics of this one. Sorry.
#Turkeylover: BLACKSTARKIDS - JUNO
An upbeat/fun sounding song with lyrics about suicidal ideation and general despair with life, and maybe, just MAYBE, finding a way to dance through the hard times? Inject that shit straight into my veins. I am always here for this kind of energy, I’m not much of a partying person irl, but this sounds like the kind of thing I could get into, just throw this on and dance around my room while filled with the usual despair. I like it!
