I basically had to write a situation that happened in my life and then explain how someone used a common sense fallacy in their argument.
My response has to do with LGBT controversy. The following story about me is 100% true.

I hate having facial hair, and as a result I shave my face twice a week. However, I hate having to shave altogether. At one point, I considered that maybe using products that would prevent facial hair from growing would be of interest to me so I wouldn’t have to worry about shaving. However, when I told my parents of this idea, they immediately rejected it. They said that those products were only used by people who go through transgender changes, and that I shouldn’t use them. I know I’m not at all having those kinds of issues, but I didn’t believe those products were only for people who were transgender. At the time, I even had some transgender friends at school, as well as some LGBT friends. When I explained the situation to them and how my parents viewed those kinds of products, they claimed my parents were wrong and that those products aren’t meant for a specific group of people. They also added that my parents “sounded like jerks”.
This argument uses the fallacy of Cultural Norms. My parents (who both claim to be LGBT allies) apparently have been taught the idea that hair removal products are only to be used by people who want to change their gender identity. My high school friends, however, argued that they are for the use of anyone who wants to use them. My parents and my high school friends are both from different generations, and therefore were taught different cultural norms from each other, thus causing them to believe that their norms are supportive for their stance on the argument.
