Eurovision 2020 - Final Rankings

May 16, 2020 by MyMilkshakes
Well, since today was supposed to be the final day of Eurovision 2020, I will leave you all with my final rankings of this year. I also watched Eurovision: Love Shine a Light today and thought a majority of it was boring and that the artists deserved better. However, the last 15 minutes were fantastic and had me shed a tear. I'm so happy artists from this year keep getting confirmed for next year too, because I really want all of these artists to have their chance on the Eurovision stage that they deserve.
Also please remember this is just my opinion, because I know a lot of you are not going to be happy at my last place LOL
But without further ado, here is my complete top 41 for Eurovision 2020!!

And a little writeup on my top 5 because why not

Bulgaria - Absolutely beautiful. I love every single thing about this. The style, the mood, the atmosphere, the key change, Victoria!! All absolutely beautiful and this song fully captivates me. It's emotionally gripping yet catchy and has endless repeatability for me. I'm heartbroken that Tears Getting Sober won't get its chance to shine on the Eurovision stage, especially since it was a contender to win. However, I love that Victoria has already been confirmed for next year and I really hope she sends something as stunning as this.

Romania - Romania's national selection was so good this year, yet, Alcohol You instantly gripped me and instantly became one of my favorites. Similarly to Bulgaria, I just love the vibe and atmosphere of the song. Roxen sells it very well as well, and I really loved the revamp they did by adding the high note at the beginning of the second chorus. Just a very solid song and I can't wait for Roxen to grow and come back stronger next year.

Israel - The definition of a BOP!!! I haven't actively liked an Israeli song since 2014, so I was so excited to root for them again. The Israeli/African influence in the song is fantastic, I love that there are FOUR languages represented in the song, and Eden is just a powerful performer and her stage presence really helps elevate an already strong song into a phenomenal BOP!! So happy that she's coming back next year too and I'm hoping for an equally as strong ethno-bop.

Ukraine - The second year in a row Ukraine would've ended in my top 5, yet the contest will not be held. Ukraine has always and will always be my favorite Eurovision country, and it's likely because they always send something new and risky but always fantastic. The first time I heard Solovey I didn't think much of it, but I listen to it endlessly on repeat now and I just love it. The white voice mixed with an ethno-drop and a contemporary beat sounds like something that shouldn't work, but works perfectly on this track. It's just so good and catchy and such an iconic song and performance. I just hope Go_A stick to this type of song next year, because I would LOVE something like this again.

Serbia - Another BANGER!!! This was originally my number one for a while, but I stopped listening to it over time (and then Bulgaria was released). However, I always love a good girl group moment, and Hurricane fits that mold perfectly. Every member is iconic, they can sing great, have fantastic coreography, and just snap so hard when they're performing the song. Hasta La Vista would've been such a change of pace for Serbia that they really needed, so I really hope that they give Hurricane the chance to return next year with something even more iconic because I'm DESPARATE to see them on stage.

Also, the first Danish song I have EVER liked in Eurovision in 65 years being the one year the contest is canceled... I have to laugh.

Anyways, if there are any explanations for any of the songs and the placings I put them in, please let me know in the comments and I'll respond!! I'm hoping to MAYBE make a countdown of my favorite songs from the 2010s later in the year since I didn't do a blog series this year and I missed it, but we'll see what happens!!

Until then, hope you're all doing well and are being safe and make sure to stream Tears Getting Sober by Victoria :)
