Since Semi Final 1 of Eurovision is tomorrow, I have decided to make a prediction on what I think will happen tomorrow! Literally the strongest Eurovision semi that I can think of. I honestly feel like 15/16 of these songs have actual cases to qualify and literally every song stands out and has great staging. While I feel like things have become slightly clearer after rehearsals, I literally have no clue what is going to happen and am both terrified yet excited to see it all go down. Also, please remember, this is my prediction, not my personal preferences :)
1. Lithuania 馃嚤馃嚬
Discoteque by The Roop
Chance of qualifying - 95%
Really don't see this missing out. Literally the perfect show opener that is both memorable, catchy, and super fun. Will thrive with both the public and juries.
2. Slovenia 馃嚫馃嚠
Amen by Ana Sokli膰
Chance of qualifying - 30%
I feel like Slovenia has gotten massively screwed over by their running order. While I feel like the juries will love this, I don't see the public latching on to this at all. And in a semi this strong, the jury alone is not enough to help a country qualify.
3. Russia 馃嚪馃嚭
Russian Woman by Manizha
Chance of qualifying - 75%
Wish I could give this a higher percentage, but I just cannot fully trust the public and juries to go for an entry this eccentric and unique. Still, at the end of the day, it *is* Russia and I feel like the song and staging are good enough to help this pass.
4. Sweden 馃嚫馃嚜
Voices by Tusse
Chance of qualifying - 85%
I mean it's Sweden... the juries are going to obsess over this generic song and I'm sure people at home will love Tusse's charisma and help this qualify.
5. Australia 馃嚘馃嚭
Technicolour by Montaigne
Chance of qualifying - 45%
Ugh, poor Montaigne. While her staging does seem strong, I feel like her not being in Rotterdam is really going to hurt her. I also don't really see the juries going for a hyper pop song, even though Montaigne crushes the song. Will be sad to lose this song because I love it.
6. North Macedonia 馃嚥馃嚢
Here I Stand by Vasil
Chance of qualifying - 15%
Just gets lost in this semi final and is too messy. Don't really see anyone going for this when there are better ballads and better songs in general.
7. Ireland 馃嚠馃嚜
Maps by Lesley Roy
Chance of qualifying - 45%
I really do not see Ireland qualifying. Personally, I don't really connect with the staging she has going on, and I'm not sure too many others will either. I also don't think Lesley's vocals are where they need to be right now either and, at the end of the day, there are just stronger songs here sadly.
8. Cyprus 馃嚚馃嚲
El Diablo by Elena Tsagrinou
Chance of qualifying - 100%
Easily qualifying. Elena tears up the stage, this is memorable, fresh and iconic. Will be at the top of the semi.
9. Norway 馃嚦馃嚧
Fallen Angel by Tix
Chance of qualifying - 65%
One of the very strong borderline qualifiers we have this year. Really not sure how this is going to go down, especially since the viewers may view this as gimmicky and not connect to it as a result. I also don't really think Tix stands out in this running order... I think it'll be close regardless
10. Croatia 馃嚟馃嚪
Tick Tock by Albina
Chance of qualifying - 65%
Another very strong borderline. I think Albina will be able to squeak through though because she'll have the ex-Yugoslav vote because people are not voting for Slovenia and North Macedonia. Plus, she just gives an interesting performance that will help her advance.
11. Belgium 馃嚙馃嚜
The Wrong Place by Hooverphonic
Chance of qualifying - 65%
ANOTHER borderline... I've been discounting this entry for the longest time, but after following rehearsals, I *really* think this has a strong chance to stand out. I feel like the juries will love this and the older voting public will as well. There's not really much else like this in the semi which helps it stand out, especially amongst all these pop tracks.
12. Israel 馃嚠馃嚤
Set Me Free by Eden Alene
Chance of qualifying - 65%
The borderlines keep coming. While I think Israel is slightly more likely to advance over the last three mentioned because Eden absolutely crushes it vocally, it is still super tough. I'm thinking that her whistle notes and stage presence will help her immensely though and is what will help her advance.
13. Romania 馃嚪馃嚧
Amnesia by Roxen
Chance of qualifying - 65%
Another borderline LOL I feel as if Roxen's rocky vocals may be her downfall in a semi this tough. However, I also feel like her shaky vocals *may* work in a song like Amnesia where it actually helps her connect with the audience and juries. Plus, I feel like she also stands out as a ballad amongst these pop tracks.
14. Azerbaijan 馃嚘馃嚳
Mata Hari by Efendi
Chance of qualifying - 60%
ALSO borderline, but I'm giving Azerbaijan a lower percentage because I don't really see it happening. I don't think Efendi's staging is enough to stand out from the other pop girlies in this semi and I don't think her vocals are too phenomenal either. Plus, she got screwed today for not performing twice when all the others around her got to.
15. Ukraine 馃嚭馃嚘
Shut by Go_A
Chance of qualifying - 75%
I think this is pretty safe now?? Obviously, Ukraine was always going to crush their staging. This also has a phenomenal draw and is unique and stands out from the rest of the songs from the semi.
16. Malta 馃嚥馃嚬
Je Me Casse by Destiny
Chance of qualifying - 100%
Okay, finally ending on an easy note. Obviously qualifying, obviously going to be in the top of both the juries and televote. Just a great song with a competent performer and perfect draw.
