[GC] TRS Casting Process

11thAug 26, 2018 by KrisStory
First, I would like to say to not be disheartened if you were not cast. With every game that is hosted, a different casting process will be used depending on the theme.

For Target Roulette Stars, an emphasis was placed on diverse backgrounds with as little overlapping friend groups as possible. There's a reason why you might only like a few people in the cast - you probably don't overlap in friend group, just like they don't! Everyone cast has a unique background on Tengaged that projected them to this point.

There were two stages to the Casting process. Before stage 1, applicants were separated by their color levels: white to black and silver to tv star. At that point, all applicants were scored based on the following categories:

Color level (1-8 scale; ½ for each color level)
Narrative potential (1-10 scale)
# of Stars
•        5pts – no stars and sub-black lvl
•        8pts – no stars and black lvl-blood
•        10pts no stars and tv star
•        8pts – 5-10 stars & sub-8th avg
•        10pts – 10+ stars with sub-8th avg
•        -5pts – 10+ stars with 8th or avg
•        3pts – 1-5 stars sub-8th avg
•        -8pts – 1-5 stars 8th or more avg
Recency of most recent Stars game
•        -5pts – last 5-weeks
•        0-3pts – last 5-10weeks
•        1pt – no stars
•        5pts – 10+ weeks
•        8pts – 6 months to 1 year ago
•        10pts – 1-year or longer
Relevance and activity
•        8pts Activity listing all less than a day ago
•        5pts Activity listing up to one day ago
•        -5pts Activity listing not completely full
•        0pts for anything else
Background additions (0-5pts what does your background as a tengager bring to the table regarding community outreach, ability to make the cast as diverse as possible, etc.?)

Stage 1 for Silver-TV Stars
Applicants were split into groups of 4 based on time of application. Then, a categorical point system was used to determine which 2 from each group would move on. After that, the 5 groups with the lowest # of points accumulated by the 2 moving on would have the person with the 2nd highest number of points eliminated. As shown by the individuals in RED on the file at the bottom.

Stage 1 for White-Black
Applicants were split into groups of 4, where the top 2 based on points from each group would move on to round 2.

Stage 2 for EVERYONE
Applicants were then compared to each other based on friends lists, recent games played, recent stars played, skype chats, etc.. This is indicated by the ORANGE part in the file at the bottom. If your friend group lines up with someone in the cast, then you probably know why you weren't cast. An emphasis was placed on older users, thus only 4 black lvl or below people being cast, and many people who haven't played stars in a long time were cast. Note: yellow means that the member was cast, but dropped out.

Lastly, individuals were selected on the following question: What can you bring to the cast that isn't already there? What sets you apart?

I can't lie, I saw the applicants, and the cast was very disappointing aside from a select few.

I definitely would have done well, as I have played 4 stars placing, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th!

So who replaced dandoe?

The idea of having people who don't know each other is good in theory but casting people with relationships (positive and negative) make it SO much more interesting as a viewer. Plus a game full of C-listers isn't as exciting.
