Photoshoot #3

"Saskia de Brauw"

Hello models, welcome to your photoshoot this week. For this week, we are going to pay tribute to our guest judge this week, who also is the winner of the Next Next Top Model Cycle 9: Dream Team, the dauntless Saskia de Brauw!

Saskia as we all know, has dominated her season with her capacity to model. But not only was she a model, she is also an artist. And it's the field we're going to explore today. For your photoshoot you are going to be works of art.

So your task today is to give us a photo that you feel like could be something straight from a museum. What I need you to do is post a visually stunning and eye-catching photo  that features and balances well its elements such as color, space, form, etc.

Since you know Juan has an advantage of getting one person from all of you to change their photo, all but Juan (assuming she won't be picking herself) needs to have a back up photo which will only be MAILED TO ME which also should be submitted within the given time limit.

Explanation are highly necessary on your shot; and your back up shots. Again post your first photo here and back up photo sent through my mail within 24 hours. Thank you and good luck! x

This time i am going to a darker side.
With my photo i want to be a sculpture making reference to Aokigahara.

"Due to the density of trees, which block the wind, and the absence of wildlife, Aokigahara is known to be eerily quiet.
There are many legends about the forest. Some of them relate it to demons, ghosts and evil spirits characteristic of Japanese mythology and it is known to be a common place of suicides."

So, for this photo my white presence in this beautiful tree makes a allusion to a Spirit of someone who died there.

Hi everyone! For today's photoshoot, I have chosen a shot that was inspired by romantic paintings, as its composition conveys the essence of that artistic period. The flowers in the shot evoke the beautiful works of Jan Frans van Dael, while the style of the photo is reminiscent of the works of Caspar David Friedrich, known for his captivating landscapes. Furthermore, my serene expression resembles the maidens portrayed by Charles Edward Perugini in his paintings. This photo aims to capture the beauty and poetry found in the works of the great masters, bringing them into the present-day world.

I wanted something that could be described as "art." Something that could be in a museum and make people just stop, stare, and admire the art behind it. I feel that this look really encapsulates "art" and the color scheme really leaves something to ponder.

Behind every painting there is a story. And for this theme, I was inspired by a painting by Severin Roesen called Abundance of Fruit (1860) which is displayed at New British Museum of American Art. What interested the most about the painting is the play on contrast between color and shadow. Being intrigued by that, I decided to rely on his technique to turn myself into a living painting with emphasis on contrast between shadow and color as well. Besides that, artists often include fruits in their paintings to pass a message of human mortality and wealth, as it has been well documented that grapes was seen as a signifier of wealth to be consumed by the elites, which is why I decided to dress up in a formal attire, sipping tea in expensive gold plated crockery belonging to an upper class from the 1800s.

Below is the painting that inspired me.

There is something that’s so hypnotic about this photo and will have you in a trance like art will. Combining both visual pleasure of Doja Cat and the intriguing editing of the the photo, like art, it will make you pay attention to everything. Take it all in.

For this shot I decided to go for "ethereal mirage" a captivating one that blurs the boundaries between illusion and a hint of minimalistic art. Standing amidst a pristine, white/ yellow-ish sand backdrop, I appear almost ethereal, as if suspended in a dreamlike state. My graceful figure, adorned in an exquisite white ensemble, blends seamlessly with the overuse of white in the scene, creating a harmonious symphony of light and purity. It is an invitation for you to delve into the realm of imagination, to explore the depths of artistic perception, and to lose yourself in the ethereal beauty of my presence. I hope it leaves you mesmerized, as you connect with the image on a deeply visceral level, appreciating the delicate balance of color, space, form, and the extraordinary illusion created within this gallery-worthy masterpiece.

In this photo I’m modeling as a sculpture ‘Woman with an Exposed Brain’, something that will have people talking throughout the museum, also playing with color to really draw focus onto the brain of the sculpture

In this photo, I wanted to let the color do the talking. You know when you look at a painting and a person stops by and asks "How does this painting make you feel". I want to display this as a very calming aura where it can reflect an escape from reality, like a dream place where you can feel alone with yourself feeling the breeze of the wind and taking a glare of the sky.

And with only one color you can get where the mood is taking you because orange is a very (I would say to put it) an open-arm color. with a smile on my face, you can feel that this place brings such ease and warmth of a place where you are welcome. That is the art I am showing.

When I was looking at real pictures that are in museums I noticed a reoccurring trend with majority of the pictures. Museum pictures tend to me much larger than the usual photos and so the pictures in turn have to take up more space. In the pictures that I saw a lot of them had a beautiful scenic background with the person/people centred in the middle. A lot of the time the scenery was beautiful greenery like a field or forest. While the person/people in the centre look to be rather peaceful and relaxed.

For the challenge I wanted to bring something that I see as artistic. This photo for me could be in a museum, the pose the clothes, the colors and the white background, work like a sculpture

(ps: yesterday was a really busy day and i ended up forgetting to post my picture, if i stay - which i find really hard haha- i promise it won't happen again)
