| Petrified cafe |
Anna wipes down the counter as her and Taryn close for the night. Anna seems content and somewhat comfortable in her new job. Taryn approaches her with an envelope.
Taryn: Here’s an early paycheck. I’m not sure if you needed the money, but consider this a hiring bonus.
Anna looks up at Taryn, smiling. She sets the cleaning supplies to the side and grabs the envelope.
Anna: Thank you. I really do appreciate this opportunity.
Taryn: No need to thank me, you’re the one saving my skin. You can go home now, I’ll finish up here.
They both smile at each other while Anna makes her way out and Taryn takes her place with cleaning. Along with Anna, Taryn also seems to be happy. For the first time in her life she feels happy with all things considered.
Suddenly, Taryn feels a wave of coldness and fear gloom over her. She quietly gasps, and looks down, knowing exactly what is happening. The lights start flickering and a breeze of wind starts to blow throughout the cafe
“…You have gotten too comfortable, Taryn.”
Taryn slowly turns around, seeing the tall, dark, lanky demon that looks over her.

Taryn: What do you want…?
Demon: I’m taking over again. You’ve had your fun, but clearly you can’t handle the freedom… It hasn’t been three months, and the Vanguards are on their way to investigate you.
The demon cracks a sinister smile, narrowing its eyes at Taryn as she just looks down. A tear falls from her eye and the demon laughs again.
Demon: Taryn, Taryn, Taryn… You knew I would never really let you go. If I did, you would be dead. But I’m here to protect you again… What do you say?
The demons voice drops down to a creepily low pitch when it asks that question. Taryn continues to look down, sadly accepting her fate.
Taryn: Thank you…
