I agree with Brandonator. Scream 5 did a good job of introducing a new final girl with Samantha. Sidney is not really needed in the series anymore. She was never a target in Scream 5. It was only when she came back to town that she decided to get involved.
I am happy with Neve’s final performance and Sidney getting her (sorta) happy ending. The fifth film seemed like a passing of the torch for her. I’d love a Gale centric film, and with Kirby coming back - I’m glad that there won’t be 3 legacy characters fighting for the spotlight with the new cast.
In real world aspect - I am happy and proud of Neve for not taking less than she should. She deserves every penny she asks for, especially with Scream. Sidney is as important as Ghostface, arguably. So, I’m proud of her for not accepting a penny less than she needs to especially with Spyglass trying to low ball her
They need to pass the torch to someone new and have a fresh start so I'm kinda glad she's out. Her just popping up everytime would get boring and you can only do so many Sydney stories
Honestly I kind of agree with you all - I ADORE the character and the actress and I was upset at first, but I fear the franchise will go down a slippery slope if they try to recycle her storyline more…The ending of the last movie was a perfect way to pass the torch. She could always return another time. At least we have queen GALE 🥰
