Player of the Season - Survivor: Edge of Extinction

May 16, 2019 by survivornerd
Here's how my process will work: first off, eliminate the premerge game altogether. In my eyes, the premerge is the regular season, and it leads up to the real deal; the postmerge. So automatically, the 4 people who never participated in a merge vote are already ruled out: Keith, Wendy, Reem, and Aubry. For each round of the merge, I'm going to give a point to half of the castaways (for odd numbers I will round down, for example, I'll give 4 people points out of the final 9) I will continue this through the final 3. Whoever has the most points will be survivornerd's Player of the Season!

FINAL 13

This one is pretty self explanatory. Six people get points for this round, and only six people were in on the Joe blindside. 1 point for Gavin, Julie, Victoria, Ron, Julia, and Eric.

FINAL 12

I will rule Rick, Ron, Julie, and Eric out of this round since they were blindsided. Aurora gets a point for winning immunity and gaining an extra vote, Wardog gets a point for convincing Kamas to flip, Julia, Gavin, and Victoria all get points for flipping. David also gets a point for being the only other one to vote correctly and not get voted for.

FINAL 11

Aurora and Julia are ruled out since they voted incorrectly. David and Devens are ruled out for wasting an idol, and Kelley is ruled out for getting voted for. 1 point for Gavin, Julie, Victoria, Lauren, and Ron.

FINAL 10

Rick and David are ruled out for not voting correctly, as well as the Wardog for getting voted against. Aurora gets a point for winning immunity and voting correctly. Gavin and Julie get points for being apart of the majority alliance and participating in the challenge. Ron and Victoria get points for having both sides try to sway them.

FINAL 9

This one is fairly simple: Rick, Victoria, Ron and The Wardog all get a point for voting correctly and not getting a vote against themselves.

FINAL 8

Rick and Wardog are ruled out for voting incorrectly, as is Aurora for receiving votes. Ron and Julie get points for sorting out differences after last tribal and keeping their alliance strong, as well as Lauren for starting strategy talks with Julie. A point for Gavin as well, because he seemed to be the most adamant about taking Wardog out.

FINAL 7

This one is also fairly simple: Gavin, Lauren, and Victoria all knew the plan and none of them received votes. Aurora knew, but received a vote from Rick.

FINAL 6

Aurora and Julie are ruled out for receiving votes. Rick gets a point for his crucial immunity win, Lauren gets a point for keeping Julie around, and Gavin gets a point for having close social bonds with both Victoria and Lauren.

FINAL 6 (again!) - Chris enters the game

Rick and Chris get a point for getting idols used on them and for being the only ones to vote correctly. Lauren is ruled out for foolishly using her idol, and Victoria is ruled out for being the only one to get votes. Julie gets a point for winning immunity.

FINAL 5

This one is also simple, Chris and Devens were the only ones to vote correctly.

FINAL 4

Chris easily gets a point here for both winning immunity and going up against Devens in the firemaking challenge. Gavin receives a point for understanding that he needed the firemaking challenge to add to his resume.

FINAL 3

Chris gets a point for collecting the most jury votes.

AND NOW, for the rankings:
.
.
.
.

14th Place - Joey Amazing (basically because he was the merge boot) - 0 points
13th Place - Kelley Wentworth (played fun in the premerge, but postmerge made some bad moves against her former tribe and put Kama in control, left with an idol in her pocket) - 0 points
12th Place - Eric Hafemann (was a leader of the Kama 6, but couldn't lead them well enough for too long) - 1 point
11th Place - David Wright (with this placement, none of the returnees fell into my top half this season. HA! even though I love Dave.) - 1 point
10th Place - Julia Carter (was in on the early blindsides but had a meltdown during tribal that led to her downfall) - 2 points
9th Place - The Wardog (orchestrated some votes but ultimately could not manage his threat level) - 2 points
8th Place - Aurora McCreary (won some immunities and played with her extra vote well, but ultimately was always at the bottom) - 2 points
7th Place - Lauren O'Connell (was pretty lowkey throughout the game, made some good social connections but ultimately fucked up thinking she had to make a big move) - 4 points
6th Place - Rick Devens (huge jury threat and pulled out clutch wins, but was blindsided quite a few times) - 4 points
5th Place - Chris Underwood (really played the best possible game he could with what time he had, but ultimately he wasn't in the game long enough to get enough points) - 4 points
4th Place - Ron Clark (had good connections and was pretty savvy, but ultimately lost sight of the win in trying to oust Devens) - 5 points
3rd Place - Julie Rosenberg (also had good social connections and a decent physical game, but ultimately was too emotional) - 5 points
2nd Place - Victoria Baamonde (was in on every vote, played a very cutthroat good game but ultimately lacked in the "Outplay" section of the game) - 6 points
1st Place - Gavin Whitson (had a good physical and social game, he just flew too under-the-radar for the jury) - 8 points

What do you think of this system? Surely it can't be a more flawed system than the Edge of Extinction....

But really, tell me what you think of all this!
