RIP John McCain Aug 25, 2018
imageJohn McCain was a true hero. I don't care how political you are, or how liberal or conservative you are. What John McCain has gone through during his 81 years of life is worth more than just a book about a guy. If his whole life were to be put into one product, make it a book series because there's so much about this guy that it can't be put into 200-400 pages. As a Vietnam Veteran, he was a POW and had to suffer from the North Vietnamese torture. He had to endure a lot only to come back to become a Republican in Congress. He served as a Senator from Arizona for almost FORTY years! That's insane, if you ask me! He ran his first presidential campaign in 2000, but ultimately lost to George W. Bush, who we thought was a disastrous president and would go down as the worst history. That wasn't true, but we'll get to that in a bit. In 2008, he ran AGAIN and earned the Republican Party's nomination. He ran on a good campaign, and quite honestly, I would've been fine with either Obama or McCain winning. That was, until he chose Sarah Palin to be his running mate. Then, we go forward to 2015 when then political nominee Donald Trump said "He wasn't a war hero" before he said "He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren't captured." That was a struggle, but then, in 2017, there was a bill to repeal ObamaCare, and McCain SLAYED Trump by voting no. Baby Trump then cried and criticized him. And then in 2018, he said on his Twitter "My deepest sympathies and respect go out to the family of Senator John McCain. Our hearts and prayers are with you!" Um... Anyway, RIP John McCain. You were a great guy!

Advice for high schoolers in the 2018-2019 school year... Aug 21, 2018
A year ago, I made a blog giving advice to high schoolers on what to get accomplished for the upcoming year. The blog is below.

https://tengaged.com/blog/papalouiesfansfan/8089905/advice-upcoming-highschoolers

Now, as a wiser person and a person who understands more, I can now give some better advice for the high schoolers. So without further ado, here we go!!!

Freshmen:
Middle school was tough. I mean honestly, those were the single most awkward years of our lives. I mean we were starting to like people (in the date-able sense), we were taking sex ed, and we had the loudest voice cracks. Freshman year is still going to be awkward for you. You're starting to like girls, you're probably having voice cracks, and you may even be taking sex ed. Therefore, take this year as an opportunity to see where you fit into the crowd. Look into the future and ask where you see yourself. One decision as a freshman can impact you for the rest of your life, so think wisely about your choices.

Sophomores:
You survived freshman year. You're going to look at this year's freshmen and say "Oh, that explains a lot." This year, you'll be mainly focusing on things that will create other things during your junior and senior year. You'll be taking the PSAT to help you study for the SAT (don't underestimate the PSAT. It can help you A LOT). You'll be taking courses that are pre-reqs for APs next year. This is the one of the bigger years colleges care about, so don't slack in your courses. Honors courses may be hard, but if you can handle them, they will be worth the effort.

Juniors:
You're officially upperclassmen! Two years ago, you started as little freshmen, wandering cluelessly around the school and probably asking a teacher where your next class is. Well, in that same period of time, you'll be done with high school and will move on to better things. You'll begin taking APs this year, and of course, you have the dreaded SATs and ACTs... Look into colleges you are interested in, because it can relieve a lot of stress when you apply to schools for senior year. Also, this is THE most important year of high school for colleges. You really don't want to fuck up in your courses and have a discussion on your multiple Fs in your college interviews.

Seniors:
You've probably had advice above given to you in the three respective years. Now, this is the home stretch, and I'm with you on this one! As a member of the class of 2019 myself, you're enduring some senioritis between rigorous courses and SAT and ACT retakes and college stuff and AHHHH! This year, take a schedule that is both hard enough for colleges to want you and fun enough so that you don't have to say senior year was your most stressful year. Make the most out of this year, because this will be the most memorable year of high school.

With that, that concludes my second edition of the advice for anyone going into high school for the upcoming year. Maybe I can do the 2019-2020 edition when I graduate. Who knows? Anyway, I wish you all the best of luck, and may you survive another year of high school!

My favorite band of all time Aug 20, 2018

So my favorite band is Five for Fighting. I call them one of the most underrated bands of all time. If I asked 100 people who has heard of that band name before, I'm not even sure one or two could raise their hands. Yet, if I ask them if they know their signature songs, a good number would probably raise their hands. That said, here are some of their songs.

"Superman" is their signature hit. When the singer, John Ondrasik, was having trouble being known for his music, he wrote Superman as a way to express his frustration. It took him a while for that song to get noticed. Ultimately, 9/11 made this a hit because of the similar meaning: even though I'm going through some hard times right now, I'll get right back up.

"100 Years" is their second big hit. It's a very romantic pop rock song. The meaning behind it showcases how powerful of a song this is. He mentions the years 15, 22, and 33. He was 38 when he released this song, meaning those years have already passed. He had his first kid at 33, if I'm correct, so some events relate to his own life while others are future predictions.

I can bet you've heard either Superman or 100 Years before, but there are other songs he's known for.

The Riddle is a very powerful song. At the beginning of the song, it asks about the meaning of life and what our purpose here is. However, the song later goes into the relationship of the singer and his 5-year old son. It's a song that's sure to leave a tear. Plus, this was his hardest song to write, taking him 18 months, so he deserves some credit for his work. Plus, it's in Bb major, my favorite key :)

If you're a fan of the movie "The Blind Side", chances are you've heard of "Chances" before (haha, see what I did there? ;)). Though John wanted the song to be about the chances of a relationship ultimately working out in the end, it could in general be interpreted as hoping that the best things ultimately come and make life better.

These four songs are the best hits from Five for Fighting. However, there are other songs that I like from him that I recommend to you: Policeman's X-Mas Party, Note to the Unknown Soldier, What If, and Disneyland are some of my non-hit favorites. I hope you all take a moment to admire some of their music.

Who saw the Super Bowl Feb 4, 2018
Anyway, here's what happened.
The Eagles scored ONE touchdown.
Then, after that one touchdown, Trump went up to the mic and said "I rigged the election."
Then, immediately after, he shot Tom Brady right in front of everyone and immediately followed by saying "Hillary did it".
What a game... Looks like no one was a winner this time around. Not even America, who's too dumb to realize their president is a fascist dictator.
