mahogany it isn’t even about being a token player. If those players aren’t applying, they cannot be cast. The Wish isn’t turning away black people/females left and right. They just don’t have many that want to play in this community.
nikw98 the white fragility really jumps out though as soon as it's not pats on the back for including a VERY overwhelming minority of different kinds of folks :S
i'm just like.... why make a blog about it championing yourself when it's literally not impressive or sufficient in the slightest
No one was looking to be patted on the back. The defensiveness comes from being attacked for putting out simple statistics. The blog was titled that there was a cast reveal. It asked to comment if you wanted to be tagged and gave some simple statistics about the cast. That’s all. There was no ulterior motive of any nature. You’re reaching rn.
The difference is thousands of people apply to survivor yearly. In an ORG, you don’t get ANYWHERE near that type of casting pool. That is an unfair comparison and you and I both know that.
my point is regarding the advertising. im not attacking anyone for the STATE OF THE ORG COMMUNITY tm. obviously everyone is a white guy. but when you're throwing lists out there like YES, we hit our quota of these minority groups, you should WATCH, it just looks nasty. managing to find 4 women to fill your cast of 17 is not an accomplishment. if the cast is better for it, viewers will see for themselves... for them to just be used as a number in your advertising is just really, really disgusting and dehumanizing.
if it were me, i wouldnt have publicized that information to get a reaction. because it's not impressive and makes pretty clear that the attempts at a more diverse cast were just to get attention, as opposed to actually caring about diversity. that's all i'm attacking.
