Here are some thoughts on her new album Midnights, based solely on my first listen. I listened to most of the songs last night, and mainly the (3am edition) today.
I know… I’m very late.
I’m not really good at explaining why I do or don’t like a song. And the songs on the ‘regular’ edition of the album I don’t remember all that much, besides what my favorite or least favorite was for this specific blog. So the comments on those two are gonna be a little inaccurate.
I’ll probably post a full ranking of the songs on this album after I had some time to listen to them more. As well as the new Carly Rae Jepsen album, The Loneliest Time.
But anyways here it goes.

I don’t really remember why. But I do remember hearing this and thinking it was pretty good. Maybe once I listen again I’ll hate it but I think this song is a banger.
My least favorite song on the ‘regular’ edition of the album is

Bejeweled
From what I remember last night, I felt like this song was so annoying. I just really didn’t care for it and of all the songs I think it made me want to add to my playlist the least.
Now onto the (3am) version of this album. These songs are less memorable to me, despite just listening to them I couldn’t tell you what they were all called or even about. Which makes sense why they are on the (3am) edition. Maybe these songs are designed to help you sleep lol.

Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve
I think this song is actually pretty fun. It’s got great lyrics and is probably the most memorable to me of the 3am songs. I think I could catch myself singing to this once I learn the lyrics more. But I’m sure I’ll find myself gravitating towards this song if I’m feeling like listening to a Taylor song.
Now my least favorite from the (3am) edition I had a couple options. There was two I just really didn’t like. And really couldn’t vibe with that much. Not saying they were bad, just one of them was kind of generic and the other one I think is meant to be one of those songs that is like a summary of the album itself. Or perhaps it’s the Intro to the (3am) edition. I didn’t do a whole deep dive to figure out what each song means and represents. I listened to them once and took it at face value. Paris
This song to me is just very generic. I’ve heard a million other songs like it, even with the same name. Though me saying this I fear the diehard swifties are gonna tell me how much of a deep meaning this song has. But I really didn’t care for it and almost didn’t add it to my playlist. But if I’m gonna rank the album at a later date I need to have it pop up on my playlist so I can try and have a more accurate critique.
Honorable mention for least fave on the (3am) edition is Bigger Than The Whole Sky. In case anyone was curious.
