I didn’t enjoy the other 2 as much…
Pair 1: FromAWindow + nenalalala
Brandi Carlile + Sam Smith “Party of One”
I’m so conflicted here. Brandi Carlile may be one of my favorite solo artists of all time… whereas I can barely tolerate Sam Smith. I love Brandi’s body of work so much, this song however comes from my least fave album of hers, and this rendition of it has Sam Smith who I don’t care for. Without a doubt they have great synergy and they both have powerful voices, but ultimately this isn’t a song I’d listen to in my free time, and if I did it would be Brandi’s solo version.
Pair 2: Newnightmare7 + Joee323
Lana Del Ray + A$AP Rocky “Groupie Love”
Holy… what a powerful submission. I’m not super familiar with many of Lana’s songs and virtually none of A$AP. Lana’s voice in this song is fuckin stellar. The lyrics, the beat, the all around feel of this song is fantastic and it is a song that has definitely been stuck in my head. I have nothing negative to say here, this was an awesome choice.
Pair 3: Christian_ + tyleror
Charli XCX + Christine and the Queens “Gone”
Hmmm. I don’t really have anything positive to say here. I love Charli, don’t really know anything from Christine though. This song just didn’t pull me in and I felt like there was nothing special about it. I felt like there was no hook, and I also felt like Charli and Christine’s voices blended together. The last 30 seconds of the song where they sounded like robots too was weird and off putting. I’m sorry this just was not it for me this week.
Pair 4: Maxi1234 + Smuguy2012
Britney Spears + Tinashe “Slumber Party”
Damn. I love Britney, but I can admit that some of her songs hit me hard and some of her songs go over my heads. I’m actually surprised I hadn’t heard this song before, and that’s disappointing because I’ve been missing out, this song was basically perfect. Loved the beat, loved Tinashe’s part even though I’m not familiar with her, loved the vocals and synergy as well. Wonderful

I really wasn’t digging either of these songs, as much as I wanted a 4 person win, I kinda wanted a 4 person lip sync…. But I’m not that extra!

Although I don’t like Sam Smith, I can’t not LIVE for Brandi Carlile, Brandi brought a specialness to FromAWindow + Nenalalala submission that Charli and Christine were just missing all together.
