At 43 is Drag Race Holland Season 1.
CAST: The cast served really well. Every single one, minus Patty offered relevancy to the series in their own way. We had the underdogs, the fashion icons, an obvious winner, and firsts for the franchise. So it's an A+ there.
CHALLENGES: Like I said in Holland 2, the challenges for me stunk. With Snatch Game being the one that stood out. Not by a lot obviously. Before long I felt no matter how well some queens performed, it was always Envy and Janey that stood out. Chelsea, Ma'Ma and Madame did well throughout their time. But I just felt it was a series of overlooking others. Considering Fred knowing Envy personally before this, I am not surprised.
WORST SET OF LIP SYNCS: There was only one lip sync this season where I was genuinely entertained. The others lacked bad for me. The way they were cut was bizarre as well. For example, Roar by Katy Perry. I was left wanting more and all I got was WTF results.
FAVORITISM: For me I felt immense favoritism during the whole run. Envy Peru, Janey Jacke and Miss Abby OMG were Fred's pupils. I don't give a fuck what anyone says. Queens like Chelseaboy, Sederginne, Madame Madness and even Roem were massively overlooked and shut down for their creativity. Say what we will about RuPaul, but she would have adored the four I just listed. That is why I have a hard time respecting Envy as a winner. Because I do feel like she was handed the win.
FINAL REVIEW: Holland could have been a great series, but blundered on all accounts. This season had a more visually stunning cast. But the Envy ass kissing just tainted it for me. I'm glad we don't have to put up with another season of this garbage, and I happy to no longer cover this for the rest of the rankings. :)
Favorite Queen: Chelseaboy. Her drag is amazing, and I have always been into the androgynous style that queens like her bring. She needs to be in a vs The World asap.
Least Favorite Queen: Miss Abby OMG. Something about her just rubs me the wrong way. I find her immature and lacking professionalism in drag. I haven't seen much since Holland 2, and quite frankly I don't care to.
Best Lip Sync: Why Tell Me Why by Anita Meyer (Abby vs Megan)
Worst Lip Sync: Stronger by Kelly Clarkson (Abby vs Ma'Ma)
Hint at 42: Don't call me a truck driver!
