The careers wake up to find that Xander is missing. They have no idea that he was killed last night, let alone what killed him.
Seraphine: It doesn’t make any sense... where could he have gone?
Sandra: I can go out and look for him!
Chad: Guys, calm down! He could be dead... we don’t know. Come on, we can all go look for him together. If he was killed, whatever killed him can’t kill all of us if we’re together!
Rex: Okay, but... we should be careful.
Cleveland: Who cares about being careful?! Let’s just get out there and kill whoever killed him!
Chad: Cleveland! Calm down!
The remaining careers then travel outside to try and find out what happened to their friend.
All they can see is a dimly lit morning sky... and it’s still raining. Most of the careers are distracted by all of the flashing lights coming from the neon signs and screen built billboards.
Seraphine: This seems a little too modern for a hunger games arena.
Chad: Guys, focus! We need to see if we can find out anything abou—
???: RUN! THEY HAVE GUNS!
A voice can be heard from behind them. Rex immediately jumps, and they see a kid run past them.
It’s Ethan.
Ethan glances at the careers, but doesn’t seem to be focused on them. The careers notice this, and become confused.
Ethan: They’re everywhere!!! They have guns!
Rex: G-guns?!
Suddenly, three strangers in trench coats step out in front of Ethan.
Ethan: No... NO!
The strangers then take out their own personal handguns, and shoot him dead.
BOOM!
Chad: Oh no... RUN!
The careers immediately run for safety back inside of their original camp out building.
Sandra: Guns? GUNS? They have guns!!!
Seraphine: But... but Guns haven’t been used in the Hunger Games for decades!
Chad: Guys, calm down! I don’t think they were tributes... they were too tall. This could just be a challenge the capitol is throwing in our way to make things interesting.
Rex: That kid that got shot down... he said they were everywhere! Why didn’t we run into them yesterday when we were searching for camp?
Chad: I don’t know... but I think that these guys are the people who killed Xander.
Suddenly, a clock chime can be heard. It appears to be noon, according to some of the devices around the arena.
The mysterious strangers suddenly begin walking in the same direction.
When they’re gone, Chad gets an idea.
He steps outside.
Seraphine: Chad, no! What are you doing?!
Chad: It’s okay... I think they’re gone. At least... for now.

-An Unlikely Rescue-
Warren and Amy have spent the day inside of a small building. They’ve noticed the mysterious strangers with guns outside, and have been trying to avoid them. They are unaware that they are now gone, and are having a discussion about yesterday.
Amy: You know, you could’ve gotten yourself killed yesterday! And now look at you, your arm is all wrapped up as if it’s broken!
Amy was right. Warren’s arm had been injured to the point where he couldn’t use it, so he and Amy decided to wrap it up like a cast.
Warren: I... I just wanted to protect you. You’re the only person I know in this arena!
Amy: I told you before! If we work together, we could look like threats! The careers could come after us!
Warren: Yeah, but... is it really better to not have somebody on your side that you can trust?
Amy is silent for a moment.
Amy: I... I guess you’re right. We need to—
Suddenly, they both can hear the door open. They both instantly become quiet.
Amy: You stay here... I’ll check it out.
Warren: No! I’ll come with you.
Amy: Warren, you only have one arm! You’ll get yourself killed!
Warren: You could be getting yourself killed too! I have to come with you.
Amy: Warren, I—
Amy is suddenly interrupted by the person who entered.
It’s Brett.
Brett: Oh hello! We meet again!
Brett takes out a knife.
Amy and Warren take out knives of their own.
As soon as Brett makes the slightest move forward, Warren jumps in front of Amy and attempts to attack.
However, Brett easily pushes him aside. Warren drops to the floor, landing on his bad arm and feeling instant pain.
Brett walks toward Amy, who is clearly scared, but ready to attack.
However... Brett’s throat is suddenly slashed, someone standing behind him.
Brett drops his knife and bleeds out.
BOOM!
As he falls to the ground, Amy recognizes the person standing behind him as California, the career girl from District 2.
Amy suddenly looks more scared. Warren immediately jumps up from the ground and stands in front of her protectively.
California: No! It’s okay... I’m not gonna hurt you.
Amy looks less scared, but Warren is still trying to protect her.
California: Listen... I’m not with the other careers. I ditched them... you guys are safe.
Warren looks like he is less scared now as well.
California: I... I didn’t want to kill that guy, but... he looked like he was gonna kill you. I wanted to help you.
Warren and Amy suddenly feel a sense of trust in California.

-A Tragic Death-
Biba and Zoë are inside of their own building, nearing the top floor. They have decided to go to the rooftops to get a better view at the mysterious strangers.
Biba: Who do you think they are?
Zoë: I have no clue... but they can’t be tributes. They look more like adults.
Biba: Yeah... but if they aren’t tributes, who are they?
Zoë: Maybe they’re peacekeepers?
Biba: That would make sense... but why would they be in this arena?
Zoë: I don’t know... maybe if we’re lucky, we’ll see one of their faces from the rooftops!
The siblings then make it up to the roof. However... they notice something strange.
All of the roofs to each building seem to be connected... they can see that there is a firm wooden plank leading to the building next to them.
Then, they see something else...
There’s a person standing on the edge of one of the buildings. They can see that this person is not one fo the strangers, and is clearly a tribute. This person looks extremely unhappy.
It’s Julian.
Biba: Hey... what are you doing?
Julian is clearly crying.
Julian: I... I can’t do this...
Zoë: Wait... what are you talking about?
Julian: I’m not cut out for this! I’m not the person who should be in here... I’m just a dead man walking!
Biba and Zoë realize what’s about to happen.
Zoë: Wait... NO!
Biba: Don’t do it, you can’t—
Suddenly, Julian steps off of the building.
There is a loud thud afterward.
BOOM!
Zoë immediately cries and hugs her brother. Biba looks devastated. But then he notices something.
Biba: Hey Zoë... do you see that?
Zoë: No! I don’t wanna look!
Biba: No, I mean look around! All of the strangers are gone!
Zoë: Wh-what?
Zoë looks up to notice that the area in front of them is completely void of life.
Biba: It’s safe to step outside now!
Zoë is trying to wipe tears off of her face.
Zoë: But... isn’t it safer up here? The strangers don’t come up here... and everyone else should be down there right?
Biba: Well... yeah... I guess for the time being, we can stay up here.
Biba and Zoë then take off to explore the rooftops, trying to forget about the suicide they just witnessed.
-Partners Reunite-
Dice has noticed that the strangers are gone, and has decided to move to a new location before they return.
Dice is running through the streets, trying to make sure he isn’t spotted.
He decides to enter a random building to catch a breather.
Dice shuts the door, and then turns around.
He finds someone else staring right back at him.

It’s his district partner, Meme.
Meme: D-Dice?
Dice: Uhh... I didn’t mean to-
Meme: No! It’s fine... I trust you!
Dice: Really?
Meme: Yeah! We became acquaintances on the train, so I really didn’t think we had anything against each other! I hope not anyway...
Dice is suspicious of how trusting Meme is.
Dice: Okay... how long have you been in here?
Meme: All day. Those strangers are still out there, aren’t they?
Dice: Actually, no they aren’t! They’re all gone!
Meme: Wait... what? Seriously?
Dice: Yeah! I looked outside, and they were all just gone!
Meme: Oh, that’s a relief! I’m so thirsty and I wanted to see if I could drink some of the rain, but I was so nervous those guys would shoot me down!
Dice: Oh, you’re thirsty? Here... I have some water already collected!
Dice hands her a canteen full of rainwater that he collected after the bloodbath. However, he hasn’t taken a drink of it yet.
Meme: Thank you!
Meme takes a huge drink from Dice’s canteen.
Meme: I don’t know how to thank you, I was so—
Meme suddenly finds it difficult to breath.
Dice sees her face become bright red. He is visibly confused.
Meme suddenly starts to make choking sounds.
Dice looks incredibly guilty... he knows he didn’t poison his own water, and he has no idea what’s happening.
Dice: I-I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to—
Dice stops talking when he notices that Meme isn’t breathing anymore. She is lying on the ground, making no movement.
BOOM!
Dice then realizes something. It was so obvious... the capitol wasn’t just gonna give their tributes an endless water supply.
Dice takes his canteen and dumps the rest of the water out.
Dice: The rain... is poison!
Dice, looking guilty and feeling responsible for Meme’s death, runs back outside.
-Return of the Enemy-
It is now night. The careers are all outside, looking for a new place to camp.
Chad: Let’s just pick a building and stay there for the night. How about... that one?
Chad then points at a building, and the careers begin walking toward it.
Cleveland, Rex and Seraphine are all inside when...
Another clock chime can be heard.
Chad: I think... we should get indoors.
Sandra: Look! The strangers are back!
Sandra can see a single stranger standing alone, his back turned away from the careers.
Sandra: Don’t worry, I’m gonna kill this guy!
Chad: No, wait! I don’t think the capitol would let you do that!
Sandra ignores Chad and sneaks up behind the stranger.
Sandra takes out one of her spears and throws it.
...

...
The spear goes right through the stranger, like a ghost.
The stranger, however, notices. He immediately turns around and pulls out his gun.
Sandra looks as if she regrets her decision.
Chad can only watch as she is shot dead.
BOOM!
Chad then wastes no time going inside of the building with his fellow careers.
The careers then watch as the strangers take over the arena.
Chad: Well, I guess they aren’t killable... I just wish we had realized that without losing one of our allies!
Cleveland: We can’t kill them? That sucks...
Suddenly, the fallen tributes of the day are projected all across the arena.
