AMERICAN IDOL game concept

Jan 7, 2013 by Minotaur
After THE AMAZING RACE and THE MOLE, here comes AMERICAN IDOL!

Number of players : 12
Cost : 10T$
Minimum Level : Orange
Duration : 11 x 2 x 10 minutes = 220 minutes MAX.
Winnings : 40T$ and 40k for first place.

RULES :

1. The object of the game is to gain enough popularity to survive each round.

2. This game is an individual game. Alliances can exist, but it is harder for them to control the outcome. You'll see why later.

3. The game lasts 11 days. Each day is divided into two sections that last 10 minutes each : the challenge and the vote. Contestants will also be able to chat in the public comments section.

4. Like I said, the object of the game is to gain popularity. A bar graph on the right of each contestant will indicate how popular they are for each day.

5. You can gain popularity in 4 ways :

a) With checks. Plussing and being plussed will influence positively your popularity. Negging and being negged will influence it negatively of course.

b) With the challenge. Performing well in the challenge (just like performing well on the stage of American Idol) will also influence your popularity.

c) With random musical notes appearing on the public comments section. Many notes will appear in the game (more than keys in slow castings).

d) With the vote. At the end of each day, contestants will vote on ONE individual they want to SAVE from elimination. It's basically the opposite of a Casting where you would vote to evict someone. Here, you want to SAVE someone. You can't, of course, vote for yourself.

This is where I think big alliances will find it difficult because they can only save ONE member each.

6. The person will the lowest number of votes is eliminated. In case of a tie, the person with the highest number of votes will decide who leaves (if there's a tie for highest, algo will determine who will vote).

7. Graphs reset after each day, making it fair for everyone. But those graphs will count for the final results.

8. The game continues until Final 2. The person with the highest popularity level (based on all the graphs of the game) wins.

Thoughts? Maybe it should be named POP IDOL since you try to gain POPularity? :P

Isn't this basically Castings except with a slight twist...?

Similar in some ways, different in others.

Checks and challenges are the same, just like in almost every game on Tengaged.

The musical notes replace the keys, but there would be a lot of them.

What's really different is the way you vote and the way the winner is decided. It would probably change the entire dynamic of the game.
