Top Songs of 2017 - #42

Jan 4, 2018 by GrrrImABear
This list is written all based on my own opinion. All of these songs were released in 2017 or late 2016. There is a mix of songs popular on the radio or streaming, and songs that are more forgotten gems from albums or just never picked up the popularity they should have. These are just in my opinion, the 50 best songs that I'll remember from this year.

#42 - Make Me Better - James Blunt

James Blunt once had a huge success with 2005's "You're Beautiful", and since then has pretty much faded into obscurity. However, his work in 2017 has seriously been underrated, including not only this song, but another ballad "Heartbeat" and a collaboration with Robin Schulz "OK". Touring in the American leg of Ed Sheeran's "Divide" tour as his opening act, he showed off this song that was written in collaboration with Ed Sheeran. In this song inspired by his wife, Blunt shares may specific details that make this really feel like a Sheeran song, but with Blunt's amazing delivery and emotional connection, it really tells a story. One of my favourite lyrics is even quite simple, but "You gave me a child, and he's got your smile" and "You gave me life, dear, and he's got your eyes", both are simple and straight to the point, but in such a cute way that this song just caught my attention and is just so beautiful to me. This song never came close to charting anywhere as it was never a single, but this track is one of my favorites of this year.

Hint for #41 - This song was written and performed by an artist previously mentioned on this countdown list.
