David is a castaway on Survivor: Redemption Island and was a member of the Zapatera Tribe and Zapatera Six alliance. He was voted out on day 24 and became the first member of the jury when he lost his duel on Day 25.

• Right away, he was vocally against having Russell Hantz on his tribe, so he formed an alliance against Russell and his allies, which included Steve, Ralph, Sarita, Julie, and Mike
• His alliance decided to end their winning streak by purposely throwing a challenge to take out Russell, which inadvertently led to a losing streak on their end, although they were able to systematically eliminate Russell and his allies one by one
• He and Sarita clashed, him claiming she was weak, while she argued he was rash and untrustworthy; rather than targeting Stephanie with the others, David tried to convince others to take out Sarita instead to keep the tribe strong; he initially failed with Steph going home
• Targeting his own ally led to David being an outsider for turning on his own alliance, and when they lost on Day 18, Sarita campaigned for him to go; but in order to keep the tribe strong, they voted out Sarita instead, despite a looming merge, although he received a vote from Sarita & Ralph
• David and the other Zapatera’s merged with 5-7 disadvantage, and David and the Zapatera’s were spared initially because Ometepe sent Matt back to Redemption Island
• Still with the numbers advantage, during the second tribal council following the merge, David became the first Zapatera victim of the Ometepes, sending him to Redemption Island to face Matt
• During a 3-way Duel against challenge beasts Mike and Matt, David lost within seconds and was eliminated from the game, becoming the first member of the jury
• As a juror, David gave his speech to his fellow jury members and told them to vote for Rob over the other two and not be bitter; he helped crown Boston Rob as the Sole Survivor
• At the Redemption Island reunion, David shocked everyone by proposing to Survivor: Tocantins early boot Carolina Eastwood, which she accepted; Carolina later publicly broke up with David after she discovered he was cheating on her with Alicia Rosa from Survivor: One World
• According to Jeff Probst, David Murphy has the highest IQ of any Survivor contestant, higher than Heidi Strobel and Dave Ball @ 144, which David constantly brags about

David was one of the more memorable characters of RI, even though he was a smug asshole. Despite him being unlikable and just an awful person, for some reason, he is embarrassingly one of my favorites (at the time) of the season.
