So this weekend I went to Suny Pride at Suny Oneonta. I realized so much about myself. In life you go on a journey and the experiences you have are hopefully rich. This weekend I realized how much of a support group I had. That we all come from different walks of lives and we all have made different maneuvers to get where we are going. This conference helped me be a changed person. I'm going to push for Gender Neutrality for my campus. But that's not all,it helped me realize that I don't feel so comfortable on my campus like I should. This weekend I did things that I NEVER would. I broke walls in a matter of hours and yet I have been here for 2 years. Maybe its time for me to reconsider my choice in school, maybe its time for me to transfer.
But while here at the conference I felt like I was home. Like there was a place for me. These people not only became friends but family. They helped me through one of the more difficult times as at this conference I found out my friend from High School had taken his own life. The reason he took his life was do to LGBTQ* harrassment. I mean shape up america. However in his memory I will continue the fight. Fight for equality like he wanted. We as a whole can unite and do this. The highlight was meeting MiMi Imfurst from Rupauls drag race. But in all the people at this conference were amazing, I am so proud to have them as family.
