Is that is was initially created as a social experiment. The earlier seasons had a lot of character development intertwined with the strategic and social aspect of the game. For some reason since Heroes vs Villains I feel that they just shove the strategic game bot shit down our throat. Introducing like 3 advantages and 4 idols a season really has not proved to be that riveting, it just seems forced and contrived, and the new players they bring on seem like they are just there to "make big moves" from the second their pinkey toe hits the damn sand. I will not be surprised if next season as soon as the contestants reach the beach they all run off into the woods to look for idols. TO MAKE A BIG MOVE AT THE FIRST TRIBAL
When I watched a few seasons, as a Brit I was behind but I like the survival aspect of it all, building the hut, making the fire, finding food, the time that guy fell in the fire had me on the edge of my seat! Strategy is good but it does get boring =P
I think a good mix of both is what creates the best seasons. Even from early on, seasons such as Amazon and Palau are considered some of the greatest because of the cast and the gameplay.
While modern seasons can't create good survival elements (although Kaoh Rong tried), some seasons can create good cast members with great gameplay. While people hate MvGX for the girl syndrome that runs here, the season did have some really relatable and understanding cast members and good gameplay
Ghost Island is such a shitty season.. no joke, I can't cope with some of these players and how they approach the gameplay of such a legendary reality tv show.
As a dedicated viewer it’s so painful watching an idol being found every episode or some shit.
I’m happy with the one idol being found at some point in the game that is ACTUALLY difficult to find or requires multiple clues like having it being buried under something.
Even if I hate the person who finds it, it feels better to know they at least worked for it instead of wandering in the woods, plus it’s hard for production to help them magically find it if only certain people got the info needed to find it.
I s2g if I hear the phrase “I NEED TO FIND AN IDOL” followed by a montage of them wandering until they find an idol one more time...
Show us interesting people bitching about each other’s hygiene or shit. Give us a Sandra, who wasn’t exactly a strategic mastermind but who had a ‘solid’ plan and a great personality and story to root for, and great villains to root against.
Kaoh Rong was the only recent season that I enjoyed and i think it's because the cast was really unique so they need to cast more people like that season if they want it to succeed
