It’s not a hoax hun it’s a global pandemic. Don’t minimize the severity of the situation because you’re buying into the idea that politicians are manipulating everything for some sort of gain.
I think it’s accurate that politicians are WORSENING the situation by not reacting properly, and the ones that do react properly are faced with backlash from the idiots who live in this country and think their rights are somehow being taken from them because they have to wear a mask.
How come most countries are making progress in minimizing the spread of COVID, yet in Florida alone we had like 15k cases in 24 hours. On top of our government removing our country from WHO..
We live in a country with the most entitled people who have never been told no, never been told what to do, never faced consequences for their actions.
You’re really reaching with your blog. I don’t think you actually work in health care if that’s how you’re viewing the reality of this situation. Either that, or you’re just willfully ignorant, especially if you’re on the front line.
I actually support wearing the masks (and I got backlash for saying that in another blog) I said I believe politicians and hospitals were getting rich off of it (which you agreed with) I said I believe it exists but is not in as big of numbers as we're getting (which the CDC agrees with as they keep having to lower the number of cases by tens of thousands at a time) AND I think some people have overreacted (which you agreed with)

I never once said I think hospitals are profiting off this.... I think the opposite quite frankly. The company I work for is struggling because we don’t have any patients coming in. Purchasing face masks for our organization in bulk is also a struggle, so no I would say it’s the opposite, and I’m sure plenty of other health care facilities and hospitals are facing this same struggle

As for hospitals, IDK what yours is doing, but my hospital is making a killing off of this Covid-19 and it's kind of scary. We are still doing outpatients, some orthopedic doctors around us never even let up their practices, and so now our workload (in the ER especially) has increased I don't even know how many times. It's insane how many people come to us in a night because of their chest hurting and end up paying for testing, xrays, cts, ekgs, etc only to come up empty-handed and having to go home.
So your argument is that your hospital is doing fine financially so then COVID must not actually be that big of a deal..... got it. brainjak
Because people are being cautious and coming in to get checked and turn out negative then covid must not be real right? Like what the hell kind of logic...

The news claims it's one thing, but then literally a week later the CDC comes back with 'this many tens of thousands of positive tests were actually negative'. The USA doesn't even know how bad we have it, and yet we're acting like our nation is going to be extinct by the end of the year from Covid-19 so yes I think some are overreacting.
The masks I agree with. It's not hard to wear a mask. Doctors wore masks in surgery for 12+ hours sometimes and don't have issues. These people posting facebook videos of 'I TRIED TO WEAR IT FOR 5 MINUTES AND NEARLY DIED' piss me the fuck off
Oh god... uhh well this is my understanding of the situation:
I remember other countries who tried to slowly open up saw a rise in cases so they had to return to stricter guidelines as well. I don’t even think any media source I’ve seen was saying young / healthy people should fear for their lives. All said the precautions are to minimize transmission to people who can get really sick from it.
Also idk how it works in most countries, but where I am, (I’ll speak specifically to my city) there’s almost no new cases daily (like I’m talking 0-5), but there’s still limitations on visiting family who are patients in the hospital, there’s added security / people screening at all entrances, masks are required, and testing is done at different third party centres. And anyone working there has to wear masks etc (I’m guessing better quality and pricier).
There’s no profit in the COVID game where I am - city and country. But people are mostly OK with the restrictions. It’s an inconvenience but we all have family / friends who are older or are young and have diabetes or something, and we do everything for them - not for ourselves.
I think it’s a misunderstanding on the public’s end that they think they’ll die from COVID but I think the issue revolves around transmission / not overwhelming the healthcare system with cases if we stop making it a big deal, and then all at-risk people get sick all at once and the medical field can’t cope with the volume.
That’s my understanding of the situation. And as Austin said, there are people whose loved ones are at risk / have passed from it or something and it’s kinda disconcerting to see someone call it a hoax (especially because the definition of a “hoax” is something that isn’t real at all and is made up). I’m personally not worried about MY health but if I get it and transmit it to anyone (idc if it’s someone I love or don’t love), and they end up really sick from it, I’d feel like crap.
Kindred7 I honestly wish we had your restrictions in place. Like I said, I believe it is blown out of proportion, but the restrictions and masks and shit are NOT a horrible inconvenience for life. Most of these people didn't even leave home besides to shop anyway, so I don't know why they're acting like a quarantine is going to end the economy

brainJak yeah idk either - you’re from the States right? I’m glad places like NY got their act together but yeah idk there’s some weird politics going on and people in positions of authority tend to be greedy AF in the US especially. It sucks because there’s a lot of mixed messages there it seems
