#Booyahhayoob: New Divide by Linkin Park
First off RIP Chester. I will always be forever saddened by his passing. This song to me is one of their top hits! The vocalization was on point with the instrumental work. No side was being overpowered to me. What I like the most about it was the harmony was consistent and it didn’t have any unneeded tones. A very great first submission, and I look forward to what more you can bring!
#Thnksfrthmmrs: God Went North by Nothing More
I appreciate that you took a risk, I always will encourage everyone to play to your hearts content. This song is brand new to me, and the meaning behind it is very inspirational. To go through the level of grief is something that not everyone can achieve. You can feel the pain in the vocals, and so it hits hard to me. I will say the instrumental play overpowered the lyrics some. Like some things were hard to make out and if the lyrics weren’t on there, I probably would have not known what was said. A good first submission either way!
#Mrkk: One Love by Now United & R3HAB
This was a fucking snap! I have never heard of either group, so I was curious on what this could be. It screamed ballad number based on the title. As soon as that beat drop, I was off my couch ready to dance my ass off! The beat was on point, and the harmony was such a joy to listen to. You started strong, so I look forward to what you can bring in the next round!
#FromAWindow: Cypress by Sarah Kingsley
Another artist I have never heard of before! The melody was very soothing. The drum beats and her vocals flowed correctly and she needs more recognition from what I am seeing through her social networks. Some of the song I will not lie did kind of get loss for me as far as the chorus goes. Just seemed to slow itself down when I didn’t think it needed to. All in all I really did enjoy this song, and it’s nice to meet you too!
#Pekka: In Case You Don’t Live Forever by Ben Platt
I’m going to start by saying that I am one of those who don’t get the hype of Ben Platt. I have no idea why; he just seems very off putting! Credit where credit is due though. This song is so damn beautiful. You feel the passion and the vocals match the way this song needed to be. I just wished he would have toned down a bit in various moment. I feel the song itself didn’t need to have some of the high falsetto notes that it did. But maybe after this, I will give Mr. Platt one last chance.
#kingjames13: Betrayed Remix by Merkules
Remixes are always a fun time, and especially if they come from artists who aren’t as familiar to a lot of people. I was not particularly vibing with this one sadly. He’s very talented and he seems enjoyable (based on other clips I looked at), but I just didn’t really get too into it like I had hoped for. It was very one dimensional to me and I wished there was more of an umph to it. But I am also not familiar with that genre of music, so it could be based off that too. I love you James, and you know I do. But sadly this was a miss.
#tbrown_47: Yamz by Masego & Devin Morrison
What I love about it is that it reminds me of the 1990s R&B. The smooth rhythm and it’s a beat that you can get into! Sadly it wasn’t my favorite as far as the lyrics go. The chorus seemed a little stale to me at times, and it didn’t have the fun energy that I know it could have had. If this is your go to genre, keep it up! Because I live for it. I just hoped for more is all!
#oswordo3: Killer Queen by Mad Tsai
This was a good selection in my eyes. It kind of gives me Club Kid Energy in NYC, and I would jam to this while the next performer lip syncs to this and slays it. It’s not a well known artist, but I want to know more! If I had really one critique on it, I just wish there was something more to the beat it carried. Because I think it’s a nice work.
#NewNightmare7: Call Me by Blondie
This is a classic, and I would be shocked if anyone Gen Z upwards didn’t know this song. What I love the most about it is that you can play it anywhere. A car ride, shower session, workout at the gym, etc. It’s a go to song for whatever you want to do. I appreciate this being presented here, and it makes me want to jam to Blondie all night! Good job!
#PennyTrationStan: Abittipsy by YOUHA
K-Pop always holds special place in my heart. So I want to start with that. The thing I enjoy with this song is that she was having fun. You can tell she worked hard to get to song in gear and I like her spunk. The problem however was that is stayed sort of one a one note level. It’s a good car beat when you’re traveling, but other than that I didn’t get as excited with it as I had hoped for. Sorry icon!
#MrRobzilla: Lil Bit by Nelly and Florida Georgia Line
BITCH! I have been trying to find out who sings this song for weeks at my job. It plays all the time and I for whatever reason bop my head quite a bit. I hate country. I hate country so much! But this song, is such a damn bop! It takes me back to my era in this hippie town and I would listen to music such as this to keep the rhythm going with my fellow mates, or customers! It was a good job! And no worries on the late delay!
I have made my decision. Three of you really shined to the challenge, and made my spotify just a little more fun!
