5 years have passed since the events of scene 2. Nick is aged 10, Simon being 17 and Jen being 19. Simon and Jen are rarely at home, tired of Chris' behaviour and Nick and Chris barely talk, not getting on well together. Chris makes plans to have a poker game one night, held at his house. Simon and Jen hate the ideas and arrange for them both to take Nick away from the house for the evening but Nick rejects going and agrees with Chris that he will stay in his room.
Days go by until the night arrives, Simon and Jen leave early in the evening and not long after the poker players arrive. Nick is sent to his room and is met by a tall man in a black suit, looking very serious and carrying a briefcase.
Nick hears loud laughter and cheering throughout the evening, mostly coming from Chris. As the night begins to come to an end there are only 2 players remaining, Chris and the man Nick met. Nick sneaks down and watches through a small gap. After a nerve racking game Chris manages to win the last hand after both players go all in, Chris gets up to celebrate. The suited man explains to Chris that he had set the game up for Chris to win, making it easier to steal the money back from Chris, he continues to explain that he is from the group of loansharks Chris had got money from all those years back and forgotten about and then pulls out a gun and points it at Chris, he tells him that taking money from the other "innocent" players would be wrong, it has to come from Chris. The man tells th other players to leave immediately. As the players leave the man spots Nick watching and then looks back at Chris who is begging for forgiveness and then, right infront of Nick, fires. The man leaves immediately with all the money.
Nick approaches his dad slowly, who is lying lifeless on the floor. Simon and Jen arrive home and panic, they leave the house taking what little belongings they can.
