At least with Newbie stars we have the engagement of people leading up to the event and makes it more exciting and people are more invested in following because they have been voting for the newbies to join

I loved noob stars but I think there are two issues
1. There aren't very many actual new users to pick from
2. Basically anyone can get into stars regardless of color level now anyways

I mean it's true that anyone can join, but it's not really worth the Ts to really go into it. So it's a free one. Sure you probably won't get 3 rounds of poll voting + 3 blog votes but at least it'll get people invested in the cast.
