JANA B BLOG SONG COMPETITION AWARDS CONTEST WEEK EIGHT CHALLENGE Jan 12, 2021
imageHere's the next challenge and we bout to get CHILDISH.

It's time for Junior Janavision! SO you're going to have to send me a song that was recorded by the artist at the age of 15 or younger. They can be older now but the song must have been recorded when they were 15 or below that. I WILL be checking details of this.

For example 'J'amie La Vie' by Sandra Kim would be eligible because she sung it when she was like 13, even though she old now. (Don't enter this song tho)

JANA B BLOG SONG COMPETITION AWARDS CONTEST WEEK SEVEN RESULT Jan 12, 2021
imageOk my beautiful SEVEN. It's time to rock out with your coochies out.

Analiese - Evanescence - 'Bring Me To Life'
So I won't disagree with everything Tayvie said, this is a basic choice, it's probably one of the most obvious choices you could have made. There are a lot more Evanescence songs to choose from and this does show me you have a remedial knowledge of Rock music. That said, it is obviously quite iconic for a good reason, I've always wanted to do a drag number just floating off some scaffolding to this song, and the meme potential is always great. You can and should be doing better but the song is a bop.

HighNoon - Enter Shikari - 'Sorry You're Not A Winner'
I am not familiar with this song but I have heard of Enter Shikari, should I want to enter them? I like the glitchy beginning to this, very Crystal Castles. Now I am not usually a big fan of screamo stuff, but I really appreciate how you committed to the theme this week. The synthy bits linked in with the varying vocal styles all made up a really interesting song sonically, I'm into it.

Thirteen - Marilyn Manson - 'The Dope Show'
A risk entering a man accused of abuse by Evan Rachel Wood.. Lets see how that goes. I'm gonna try to judge based solely on the song anyway. This is an older song but really shows its datedness. The chorus was also rather boring compared to what I was thinking it might have built up to with the verses. I have enjoyed his vocal delivery most of the time

Absol - YONAKA - 'Creature'
Ooooh I really love this vocal and the music behind it too. This is really arresting and got me grooving. You really seem to know my music taste and I'm well into this for sure. My only main issue with this is the TERRIBLE 'I can be your Harley Quinn' lyric like WTF is that that movie was fucking horrendous I didn't like that ONE bit. Everything else I stanned.

Alexeh23 - Alvvays - 'Marry Me, Archie'
OOh she's trynna be clever here with picking a TSC song I was known for loving.. You're right though, I've been listening to this song since I was introduced to it in TSC. I love the bittersweet nature of it, but it still remains really quite lovely. The vocal is perfect and the vibe is so good. Indie rock... ok you're not wrong and it does fit, I did say anything that fits under the umbrella of rock.

Ricktworick1 - The Pretty Reckless - 'Heaven Knows'
I remember them! Taylor Momsen and all! I didn't really enjoy Makes Me Wanna Die when that came out so lets see how this one goes. I will say what I feel my issue with this band is Taylor does kinda come across as not very genuinely into her rock music? It's kinda like iconic Kelly Osbourne's music career where she was trynna be a rock chick? I didn't really like this song actually the choir of children was ANNOYING!

MichelleObama - TATU - 'All The Things She Said'
So I was very unsure of this counting as rock but I had a quick look on Wiki and it says she's 'pop rock' and 'alternative rock' so I'm gonna allow it. I wouldn't have personally chosen this for a rock challenge but it is undeniably an actual BAWP. Like it really does make me wanna open my hand to reveal and eye and make my head move 360 degrees around. YES I LOST MY MIND....The best part of this is the bit where the pianos and guitars take over.. I would have preferred the actual version though with the opening verse and all.

WIN - Alexeh23
HIGH - Absol
IN - HighNoon and MichelleObama
LOW - Analiese
BTM2 - ricktworick1 (you're lucky because I really did not care for this song)
OUT - Thirteen (you had a really good run but this didn't really do anything for me at all..)

JANA B BLOG SONG COMPETITION AWARDS CONTEST WEEK SIX RESULT Jan 11, 2021
imageTime to get on your neon cowboy hats (one of which I own from neoncowboys) and whatever trendy shit Kpop people wear!

First we have our intruder hoping to invade the cast, remember she needs to place HIGH or WIN in order to join full time.
Rollingderp - Red Velvet - 'Zimzalabim'
Well first of all, I actually know who Red Velvet are! My friend when we were in Tokyo was a huge stan of theirs so I actually have bopped to em occasionally.  I did notice a lyric in English 'throw your worries over the flat earth' which ??????. The chorus was quite disjointed from the verses which is a usual pet peeve for me with Kpop but I can't deny the bass was bouncy and fun. I liked it.

Brandy Clark - 'Long Walk'
I have heard of her actually, I know she's GAY which is cool to see in country, and usually I fux with lesbians. What I love about country music is that when it's good it can really tell a story better than any genre. This has a lot of energy and attitude to it and I really got into it. Probably my favourite artist is Kacey Musgraves so no surprise this was something I liked.

ricktworick1 - GFRIEND - 'Mago'
A good solid choice here, my favourite kinda Kpop is where it's a bit loungey ya know? I'm not always a huge fan of the big EDM banging choruses and intense stuff. This is a lot more of a serve than any of the hugely bombastic stuff. It flows really well, a good call on this one.

Absol - WJSN - 'Save Me, Save You'
OOOH the beginning of this really was sexy and got me in the mood to be dancing around a lil bit. Similar to Rick's song, this one flows really nicely, is connected well and has me loungely bouncing a lil bit. I think I can see why you like them and you picked out a really good one to introduce me to em. The vocal harmonies were my fave bits.

alexeh23 - HYO & 3LAU - 'Punk Right Now'
I AM... RRRRECKLESS. I liked this one quite a lot too actually! I didn't expect to because it starts off very aggressive and bangerlike but again everything flowed really nicely and the song logically progressed. I really liked the second verse and the vocal in it, it's real sexy but husky which usually i don't get to hear in Asian music. Just remember this, Avril Lavigne did say, "It's not punk to say you're punk"

Thirteen - Bobbie Gentry - 'Ode to Billie Joe'
Ooooh this is a really interesting start to the song I have to say. The vocal is a really interesting one and I love how you're going for songs more off the beaten track. I might say, it's a little long and doesn't really switch up which I think the song might have benefitted from, but the strings in the back and the pared down guitar/banjo? lead is fantastic.

Artpop2 - Golden Child - 'One (Lucid Dream)'
Oh this was a RISK miss art, sending a song by a MAN? I'm not sure I did not expect to see this. I didn't hate this nearly as much as I usually hate music made by men and they are good vocalists, but the song really flopped at the chorus for me. The chorus of the single bass guitar and the vocals just kinda grated on me. The dancing was pretty good though!

MichelleObama - Ashley McBryde - 'One Night Standards'
OOOOH girl she has a gorgeous voice! I really loved that in her. This has all the elements of a great country song, a strong vocal, thumping guitar and drum beat and a really clear story. I love the concept of this song and I think I'll have it on my rotation in my country playlist, loved it.

HighNoon - The Chicks - 'Not Ready To Make Nice'
I've said this to my friends irl, the worlds coolest punks are the Chicks, they really said fuck you Bush before it was cool to do it, they jeopardised their career to say the right fuckin thing and I will always respect them for it. This song encapsulates that entire saga wonderfully and I 100% understand every choice they made for this song. A legendary song that will stand the test of time in country music.

Analiese - Martina McBride - 'Independence Day'
ILY AMERICA!!! Well no actually fuck america but this song is a classic. I've always loved it actually. The way Americans are like mad patriotic (more than any other country I know) is so funny to me. But the main selling point I like in this song is the chorus, it's so like singalongable and anthemic it really gets in ya head and ya titties.

So first of all, as for rollingderp, I didn't like your Red Velvet song but I did really like Brandy Clark, that said, I just think some of the other songs here were better so you are NOT joining the game full time.

WIN - HighNoon congrats miss girl! you have won a secret advantage!
HIGH - MichelleObama and Absol (rick and alexeh were really close)
LOW - Analiese - (I like this song too but the others were all really good this week)
BTM2 - Thirteen (but I still really liked your song!)
OUT - Artpop2 (Sorry miss Art you were doing really well but this was just NOT it)

JANA B BLOG SONG COMPETITION AWARDS CONTEST WEEK FIVE RESULT Jan 10, 2021
imageLets go REELIN IN THE YEARS girls!

HighNoon - Interpol - 'Song Seven'
I actually think this is a big improvement over the last few songs you've sent. I've never really listened to Interpol but I like the moody element of it and the kinda trip hop vibes it brings. This was pretty good tbh. I could see myself kinda swayin at the back of a bar to it.

Absol - Missy Elliott - 'Work It'
DJ PLEASE. PICK UP YOUR PHONE. I'M ON THE REQUEST LINE.. This is always a true fave of mine. Missy has always been a fucking legend and I think people underappreciate her legacy on hip hop. WHAT A SONG.

ricktworick1 - TWICE - 'LIKEY'
You already know I stan this song. I dip my toes into Kpop occassionally, but this is so bright cheery and fun and I always be like me likey likey likey!

MichelleObama - Trina - 'Single Again'
This definitely SOUNDS like 2008, the beat really evidences that like strongly lol. I didn't love it if I'm honest, I felt the rap and chorus were really separate to each other? it kinda reminded me of Knock You Down by Keri Hilson but actually not as good, and you know I love me some Trina...

alexeh23 - JoJo - 'Leave (Get Out)'
OOOOH lady I don't know if you follow me on insta but I actually posted JoJo on my story the other ass day! JoJo is a bonafide LEGEND. I would maybe say I prefer Too Little Too Late (which was the song I posted) but this is always great. I love to be like WASTE OF TIME with the chorus bit.

Thirteen - Rob Zombie - 'Dead City Radio And The New Gods of Supertown'
A Bold choice here lol.. I do appreciate going for rock and actually fulfilling on that, it certainly is a heavy choice. I'm really not into miss Zombie's vocal here though, it's unpleasant to listen to. That said I appreciate your risky choice and I encourage you to pick rock songs going forward just not with bad vocals like this!

Artpop2 - Nadia Oh - 'Slapper (Ayye)'
Oooooh I don't know this one but I'm kinda shaking my boobies at it honestly. The vocal delivery is so CUNT I can really get it. This seems like it was really ahead of its time and I'm totally feeling it. AYYE.

Analiese - Rihanna - 'California King Bed'
There are stronger songs on LOUD and this is definitely among Rihanna's.... whitest. That being said, I do enjoy it, It's a good one to like scream loudly in a big car or something WE'RE TEN THOUSAAAAND MILES APAAAAAAAAAAART. But you could have picked stronger and you may have misused your advantage.

Ribbons - dies sm

WIN - Absol Missy really makes me just turn out, you win a special advantage for the next challenge.
HIGH - Artpop2 and Alexeh23
LOW - Thirteen and MichelleObama

Ribbons is eliminated auto and there was NO btm2. Not a bad job this week ladies! Lets see the tea next week.
