So I was doing a little research, and I thought this was interesting. There are currently 78 countries (out of 195, that's 40 percent) in which homosexual acts are banned: Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Sudan, Tunisia, Burkina Faso, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo, Angola, Cameroon, São Tomé and Príncipe, Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius, Seychelles, Somalia, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Swaziland, Belize, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Iran, Maldives, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, North Korea, Brunei, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu.

Can you believe how freaking many that is?!?! :O Of course, not all the laws for all those countries are the same. For about half of those places, only male homosexual acts are illegal. For some others, homosexual acts are not explicitly outlawed but people have still been known to be punished for homo sex in them because their rules are based on public morality.
~~
The punishments vary too. For some, it's life in prison -- others, less time in prison, a fine, working in prison camps, and in five countries (Mauritania, Somalia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen) you will die for it. In three others (Sudan, Uganda, and if you're a male, Nigeria) the death penalty will not definitely be used but it will be considered. In Namibia, the rules are unenforced because the people suck less. :)
~~
I never realized just how bigoted and harsh this world is until now. >_< I mean of course I knew, but I have definitely taken my "homosexual rights" for granted.
