I read something about this recently regarding the rise of astrology.

Traditional religions really didn't and don't carve out a space for women or the LGBTQIA+ community to participate in them. A lot of times they are/were actively discriminated against. As a result, to fill that void, they turned to astrology as a sort of religion of their own as it is accepting of everyone.

It makes sense.
