Escape the Night Season 4 Episode 1 & 2 Rankings

Jul 11, 2019 by Jaybirdnifty
Both of the episodes were generally great.
In the first episode we saw Tana show herself as someone who's capable of finding stuff. Tim annoyed me with his comment later on about how "she was finding stuff but it was obvious stuff" yet neither him nor Destorm found the big Ankh or the portrait that she found while she did also find two of the statues and Destorm found two of the statues. Tim? Just walked around blindly. Cute, real cute. And the fact that she went into the death challenge after finding all of that and managed to come back alive only makes me enjoy her even more.

I was LIVING for Colleen. She's still bitter at Joey, and isn't having any of his shit. And while I am worried that will come to bite her in the ass, I do hope that she'll actually be able to last a long time and continue to grace my computer screen. Plus I'm pretty sure she had the most confessionals this episode, and I'm not exactly upset about that.

Destorm being back makes me so happy. I know some people say he's the villain they love to hate, but to me he's the villain that I want to see to win (at least with the males). I do think Destorm was robbed his first season more because of Alex's bitterness about him being the one to send Lauren home round one, so I'm excited to see what he's able to do in this scenario and if him and Alex actually work together.

Alex and Destorm are both interchangeable to me. I love both of them, and could swap both of them out of their selective spots on the list. Alex I feel like will do rather well in this season since there's not many people who were shown to be the best when it comes to investigating, and I do remember him being one of the top tiers from Season 2. However, in these episodes I don't really remember him doing much so I'm not sure if it's just a fluke or if Tana has taken his spot. More than likely the former.

Gabbie I adore, but we didn't see much of her at all this episode. I literally can't even think of a single confessional she did or anything she said during the episode. But my love for her is strong, so I hope she does well in the competition.

Ro is someone that I went back and forth with in last season. While I'm not the BIGGEST Ro stan, I do enjoy seeing her. I do think she's a bit overhyped, but I do enjoy seeing her. I think most of my annoyance towards her is more towards her hardcore stans more than herself, so I'm excited to see her.

Bretman Rock was...a choice. I didn't (and still don't) like the thought of a new person being added into a season that literally has ALL STARS on it. However, they did a graceful way for him to come into the STORY. The problem I have with it more than anything is the fact that I feel like he's trying to be Nikita, and I'd rather him just be his own character. Granted this could be him since I don't know him from anything, but I feel like they literally could have just asked Nikita to come back as a competitor instead of an extra and gave her spot to either Eva or Andrea and they would get the same thing.

Tim is someone that I was a little confused why he came back as an all star. He just never really struck me personality or strategically wise, and the same thing is happening in this season. I don't really find him witty, and he's just kind of...There, you know? And the fact that he tried to come for Tana about the things she found when she found more items then Destorm and him COMBINED in their group (mostly because Tim found ZERO items and Destorm found two of the statues while Tana found two statues, the portrait, and the Ankh AND was the one to realize that they had to put the statues in the order) rubbed me the wrong way.

Joey is always towards the bottom of my list. It's mostly because his character to me is almost always so hypocritcal. He says one thing one episode, and then does the opposite the next episode. And he's constantly wondering why his friends are mad that they're stuck in these situations when he continuously fails to realize that he invited them each time of his own free will (besides season 2). Hell, Season 3 I remember Matthew even saying after he admitted to making a deal with some people for him (Joey) to come back to life in exchange for 9 of his friends giving their lives to save a town. "What you just told us, Joey, is that you think so highly of your life that it's better than nine of ours." And then we'll see an confessional of him being like "Yeah, I guess they have a point BUT..." and then the next episode later we're back to square one.

And last on this list was Justine. I was GAGGED for all of the wrong reasons when I saw that Justine was brought as an all star. Justine was the second boot of season one, and I would have even been okay if she was brought back for having a personality...But she wasn't. She didn't have much of a personality season one, and I didn't see much from her this season either. Plus, I feel like her spot would have been much better for GloZell or even Sierra if we are looking for women from Season One considering GloZell was the first betrayed contestant AND the thought of seeing her and Colleen teaming up against Joey is iconic while Sierra also was killed in a betrayal-esque sort of way. Which is why I was ECSTATIC to see mama Tana come through and sending her home on the first round in the elimination challenge. Especially considering how the OTHER people acted as well such as.
Tana: She's going to beat me...
Gabbie: Oh for sure. But it was nice having you.~

and Joey's confessional saying: She's going against Tana? I'll see you soon Justine.

So to see the gag when Tana came back and not Justine...I was HERE for IT.

All in all though, it was a great first episode and I'm excited for this season even if I think some of my faves are probably going home early. Also, I am excited to see where this plot is going considering we have the Sorceress from season two working with them as well as Mortimer from last season.
