Different context but same story. I've only ever had mediocre to full blown negative experiences with therapists, which is why I generally would refuse to see one as an adult. Unless I got super desperate.
They'd tell me when I was a kid "Oh it sounds like your situation is tough, and you might be depressed!". Like OK? yeah? Thanks for the insight I definitely never had before seeing you? It was always just shitty canned responses that made me end up feeling 10x worse for days after the session.
Like all of the ones I saw were good people, I dont doubt that. But their ability to really do anything of value for me was at best extremely minimal. At worst it actively made things more difficult.
I’ve had mixed experiences. My biggest issue with therapy is that I find it hard to open up and share about the things that are truly bothering me, so I end up just focusing on surface level stuff. But that’s a me problem
