Tells me I CHOSE to be gay, I'm going to CHOOSE to punch them in the fucking face.
I love when when straight people try to identify with gays and act like they have any fucking idea what they are talking about. When you meet someone who chooses a harsher life of hate and discrimination, over an easy one where people accept you in society, please let me know.
In the mean time, I'm going to start telling racial minorities how they should feel when someone is racist toward them. Clearly I should know how they feel being a white male, right? Shit, I'll even tell women to get over their damn PMS issues because I know exactly how they feel.
Until then, do the world a favor and STFU. Stop spreading your hate and letting people think it's ok to be homophobic! WE ARE PEOPLE TOO!
Okay you're first sentence made me actually laugh out loud xD
I agree, unless you ARE gay, don't talk about what it's like to be gay because you have no idea. I would have never "choose" to be gay if in my life I flt there was a "choice"
****I love when when straight people try to identify with gays and act like they have any fucking idea what they are talking about. When you meet someone who chooses a harsher life of hate and discrimination, over an easy one where people accept you in society, please let me know.
ATTENTION: the reason people think this things are because you are saying shit like this......why cant you just understand that some people are ignorant and are going to try and get a rise out of you. You'll never understand....well its not that hard...you like the same sex.
i don't think your attitude will do anything to promote any homosexual understanding.
There is nothing wrong with a heterosexual sympathising with the plight of a homosexual person. Just because you are not suffering from a type of discrimination doesnt mean you cant sympathise with how someone feels when they are discriminated against.
I don't suffer from racial discrimination but that doesnt mean i cant appreciate or understand how someone might feel if they are being oppressed or discriminated against.
You dont have to face something to imagine or appreciate how hard something could be, or to symapthise with someone's plight.
Homosexuality is not always easy to deal with but it does get easier with time - i would much rather people understood or tried to understand and sympathise with discrimination than just ignore it because they don't, themselves, face it.
Having said that i have never really found being gay particularly hard but maybe thats because i am happy with who i am and dont have a chip on my shoulder about it?
agreed. like i said, love is love and no one should try to prevent it. Everyone has the right to love whoever they want, date whoever they want and so on. i know i didn't choose it. but i'm choosing to live life with no secrets.
knixuk: I never said it's a BAD thing to sympathize with something you don't understand. I do it all the time and I would hope everyone does. My point was when people have NEGATIVE feelings about homosexuality and try to explain to me why I am gay and why it is such a horrible thing when they are straight.
The racial comment had to do with that bitch Ann Coulter who wrote about in one of her books that bi-racial people like Obama, Alicia Keyes, and Halle Berry are racial opportunists and are white when it benefits them, and black when it benefits them. I found it extremely entertaining that a white person had any right telling others what race they needed to act like. She wasn't sympathizing with them, she was attacking them for something she doesn't understand in the slightest.
I'm 23 and I've been out since I was 19, so I'm very comfortable with being gay and I don't walk around with a chip on my shoulder and bash straight people like some gays too. To be honest, most of my friends are straight. Maybe you grew up in a more liberal area, but I grew up in/moved back to a very conservative town where people talk shit to me in bars EVERY weekend for being gay. There have been times I've feared my life thinking someone was going to jump me. When people express views of homosexuality as a choice it's only adding more fuel to these people. Just because you haven't had a difficult time with it doesn't mean other people don't.
Sorry I'm not "promoting" homosexuality in your eyes. I've given everyone respect and love my entire life and all I ask for is the same. You don't even know me or how much I've done for society, so please don't act like you do.
I wasn't aware i was acting like i knew you. I didn't make any direct refferences to you in my reply. I am not here to get in a row with you, i sense we both have the same views. Discrimination on any level is not to be tolerated, homophobia is not to be stood for and people should speak out.
However, i didnt like the tone of your original post, it was enflamed with anger, which in part is perhaps justified - i dont know your experiences.
"I love when when straight people try to identify with gays and act like they have any fucking idea what they are talking about."
Perhaps you could have reworded it to make it clear you were talking about people who believe homosexuality to be an illness and people who are failing to understand the feelings and experiences behind it.
I think its far better to try to educate than get angry.
I am from a very small northern town (northern England being very small minded and not liberal in the slightest). I was told not to come out to my younger brother because he would hate and beat me up. I work in an environment where homosexuality is frowned upon and i live in a pretty small town now so i have experienced homophobia and it does annoy me.
I said that i didnt believe your original post did much to improve homosexual and heterosexual relations - and i dont think it does, arent you just behaving in the same way as them? Closing your mind and not looking at it from their point of view and trying to understand why they have the views that they have?
I've educated plenty of people and I have this discussion quite often, actually.
This blog was me venting because I've had a few teenagers on Tengaged tell me their classes discussed homosexuality and told them it was a choice and they've asked me for my advice on it. Basically, this blog is me protecting them and making sure they know it's not a bad thing. I thought the whole tone of the argument would point out that I'm only talking about people who are against homosexuality, not in support of it.
I figured people would be able to relate to this and get a laugh about it. I never intended to change anyone's views on homosexuality considering most people on Tengaged either are gay or support gays, so this wouldn't be my ideal audience to try to sway.
Tbh, I'm not sure how well homosexuality goes over in England so I can't tell you if it's easier or harder, but I just know being a Californian (the liberal state) and having prop 8 pass banning gay marriage it got a lot of us fired up and/or very sad. I couldn't even look people in the eye two days after it passed because I was so disappointed with humanity.
I am a christian and have been discriminated by some because of it, but it is who I am and I am proud of it! (I know that is far removed from what you have probably gone through.) You can't change who are! So if you are gay then you are gay. As a christian I believe we should love everybody! If each of us showed love to those around us then the world would be as God meant it! There is too much hatred in the world. Don't be ashamed to be who you really are and go out and make a difference in the world. Good Luck!
ay tbh ive got nothin against gay people, but i hate it wen full on puffs start prancing about pure mincing it up. thats not a dislike of them for bein gay, its dislikin them for their personality.
But Judge straight people do the exact same thing. I am straight, but I will fight for equal rights no matter what. I believe everyone under the Constitution has the right to be EQUAL. Gay marriage is not a POLITICAL issue, but a religious issue. And last itme i checked religious issues are NOT suppose to become POLITICAL issues.. But it seems that religious leaders have forgotten that, hell political leaders have to. Such a shame.
im in the UK and we have civil partnerships. the church shouldnt have to do anything they dont want, and if they dont want to marry two men or women, they shouldnt have to. the same way as we dont have to agree with the churches views. tolerance means you put up with something, not accept it. and mikey i dont care if straight people flaunt their sexuality cos it doesnt piss me off. I'm not being intolerant, i just dont like full on fairys personalities. they can be funny now and then, but most of the time they just piss me off.
But it that is what I call unfair. How is it ok for a man and a woman to walk around town making out and fingering/jerking off each other, but if two men or women want to do so they are being 'immoral' or 'vile'? The church has double standards. Not just are the sexist, but they are homophobes.
Noone ever said thagt a church should HAVE to marry two men or women, it would be nice if they did so, but they won't due to their own prejudices. (I am an atheist in the USA BTW)However, there are a few Christian sects in the USA that are willing to marry same sex couples. THERE SHOULD NOT, let me stress NOT, be a single law on WHO SHOULD BE ALLOWD TO GET MARRIED OR BE IN LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is WRONG, and goes against their CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW a lot of personalities bother me, and I don't just sterotype and say 'fairys personalities' both me, straights are douches to ya know?
yeah i know straights can be twats, but this blog isnt about everyone who pisses me off, its just about gay people in general, and the whole fairy limp wristed thing pisses me off. it's nothing about their life choice or your average gay lad. and to be fair, i think the church looks down on public fingering and wanking as immoral regardless of if its a couple ov homos or not.
I totally agree with this. Im gay and sometimes i swear id kill to be straight. Some gay men/boys whatever, dont choose it, its just who they are. Estebann you go boy, and way to put it out there :)
