My mind has been blown, but not in a good way. I just read an article where these YouTube personalities re-homed their adopted child simply because he has autism and they couldn't be bothered to learn how to deal with it!
I cannot find it within myself to have compassion for these people simply because it appears like they merely adopted simply to gain followers via social media. I absolutely HATE it when people fake things just for the sake of gaining popularity via social media, yet most people seem to do it these days. What is the point of trying to fake anything in order to be popular on social media? Why not accomplish something real and post it? The truth is always better and can truly be considered an extraordinary accomplishment to many!
Adoption and parenting a child takes hard work, sacrifice, and the awareness that the child is a living being who deserves unconditional love and attention and these people clearly did not care about anything but appearing loving for the sake of virtual popularity. The moment that they found out the kid had a special need, they decided to rehome him like he was a pet or something else that could simply be discarded like it meant nothing to them.
YOU DO NOT JUST RE-HOME A KID YOU ADOPT JUST BECAUSE IT MAY BE DIFFICULT FOR EVERYONE TO ADJUST TO THE NEW SITUATION! Having an autistic child is absolutely not a bad thing and yet, these trashbag parents did all they could to distance themselves from the situation and erase it simply because they did not get a 'perfect' child. I do not buy that they were not told about their child's special needs during the adoption process, as divulging that sort of information is MANDATORY. They claim that they love their 're-homed' child, but love does not equal giving up when things get too tough to handle. The definition of love includes unconditionalness, patience, longsuffering, kindness, and a whole lot of other Christ-like qualities that were clearly not extended to this little boy!
I REALLY hope that these parents are never permitted to adopt any other children and I hope they are investigated to make sure their other children are not being harmed by their obsession with gaining social media followers. It seems all this couple does is make decisions to look cool on social media and then they do what they can to get out of taking responsibility as soon as the 15 minutes of fame has passed. This couple has FAILED at parenting simply because the number one rule to being a parent is NEVER give up on whatever children God has brought into your life in whatever way He brings them into your life and this trash couple has broken that rule!
I was so shocked by this too. I try not to judge though, because there are some profoundly disabled children and adults in my family and as they've grown older, their needs have become far greater and in many cases unmanageable. I think it is impossible for people to truly comprehend what they are taking on when taking in a disabled child. Equally a child is for life and they made a commitment to him. It is a really difficult situation.
