Do you walk out of every session with something to work on or feeling some sort of way? I’m genuinely asking because I love my therapist but it doesn’t feel like I’m doing any “work”?? Does that make sense? Is that normal? Good?

Idk for me It's more like getting trauma out and speaking about it in a safe space with someone I don't know / feel less judged.
Jasmina yes, I definitely feel like it’s a safe space but don’t feel like I’m working on getting better at things but also have no idea if I should feel that way or it just happens organically
How long has it been? I feel like there may be some points where you feel stuck, but if it’s been a really long time it could be look for somewhere else x
Kellyt210 it’s been almost a year so you may be on to something.
dorkishbarbi at first, I think I did want just that but lately I feel like eh about it, and that I should be doing some kind of work, sorta like grad school level therapy lol?? Like okay, I’ve bitched enough now give me the more advanced lessons
There are different kinds of therapist styles but oftentimes they should be down to accommodate your needs. You should be transparent and let them know this, that you want something to work on outside of sessions! You'll get a quick glance into their quality with how they respond
Hi I work as a therapist, sometimes we need a little nudge to know what you want also! A good therapist can adapt to your needs, and help push you in the direction you want to be going
BbDamian thank you for the insight
Maybe we can chat about what the right thing to say would be? Is it crazy I don’t want to come off as implying she’s not meeting my needs?
