Super Smash Bros. 30 Day Challenge (Day 10)

7 Icarus_Mark, Jun 6, 2014

Another week, which means another day of work.  3 days to be exact.  So, let’s just go.  This is Day 10.
Day 10 - Favorite pokemon character.
While Mewtwo may have tied with #LuckyMarth for best Melee character, he is not my choice for today’s topic.  I also never much took a liking to Jigglypuff even though the developers might as well be worshipping the damn hypnotic singing balloon.  This leave Pichu, Charizard, Squirtle (who probably just got replaced by Greninja), Ivysaur, Pikachu, and Lucario.  Well, as Days 4 and 7 had a tie, so will today.  That tie is between Pikachu and Lucario.  Told you from Day 4 I would be taking about Lucario later!
Let’s start with Pikachu.  Yes, yellow has always been my favorite color, but let’s really look at Pikachu.  To some people, he’s basic and overrated.  However, I grew up adoring Pikachu from start to finish.  Pikachu is a cute lightning bolt of goodness in every volt.  He’s fast, his attacks can offer strategy, and he has some of the most epic moves money couldn’t buy, one of which I went over in another previous entry, and another… well, you’ll see.
Now onto Lucario.  Now, the first I even met Lucario was on Brawl, and he actually didn’t look like a Pokemon at first glance.  He attacks using aura and plays using a risk vs. reward approach as his aura attacks will cause more damage as he takes more damage.  Also, though, for being a heavyweight, Lucario is actually agile, able to wall jump, and he can counter like a boss if you have enough practice with his B-Down.  He does require patience, but I found that I can actually connect with him pretty well, so I couldn’t not choose him here.

Super Smash Bros. 30 Day Challenge (Day 7)

2 Icarus_Mark, Jun 3, 2014

In the midst of the darkness, we always hope for that light to save us.  However, that’s a topic that’s for pansies and that I will not be getting into, and if you thought I was, then too bad, so sad.  Today is the day for Final Smashes.  Okay, I lied.  That WAS a light in the darkness.  Anyway, can we please just get the fuck to Day 7 now before I go philosophical here?
Day 7 - Favorite final smash.
There were some choices to consider for this one.  I like Lucario’s Aura Storm, Marth’s Critical Hit, Pikachu’s Volt Tackle, Captain Falcon’s Blue Falcon, and the Landmaster that all the Star Fox fighters have.  So which one do I choose then?  Today’s choice is a tie between Pikachu and Marth.  #LuckyMarth
I covered Marth’s Final Smash somewhat on Day 4, stating that it mostly takes one hit to kill opponents with this move.  With that said, whenever I play against Marth and he has the Smash Ball, I’m glad the move is only linear.  If Marth could roam all over the place doing this, Critical Hit would be so OP that no one would want to mess with this guy, let alone piss him off.
Now let’s cover Pikachu’s Volt Tackle.  True, it takes practice to master, but seeing a cute, yellow little mouse transform into this black-purple ball of electrical terror with the push of a Smash Ball (ok, that was a bad joke, I’ll admit) is, you gotta admit, pretty badass, even if you hate Pikachu.  This is a fun Final Smash because, even though it isn’t the easiest thing is the world to get KO’s with it, this really racks up damage, especially if you’re lucky enough to corner your opponents.  If you’re good enough with Pikachu, you can generally rack up enough damage points with this that you can finish off your enemy even if they were at 0% before you wailed on them with this Smash, provided you haven’t killed them already.
