Your test for the next two days is called Two-Day Tournament. I will put all 16 names into a random list generator to create a bracket. Then, the 1st person on the list will be matched against the 2nd, the 3rd against the 4th. The winner advances to the next round. There will be 4 rounds that take approximately half a day each.

5-8th - 6 pts
3-4th - 15 pts
2nd - 30 pts
1st - 40 pts
