"Parallels"

Hi guys, for this week, you will be judged by the winner of NTM18: Pop Culture, also our very own, Judge Reece!

This week, you were tasked to mail me by rankings, Who shall you be paired with based on how you resonate with them. It is because, for this week's challenge, you will need to understand them.

In this intriguing and dynamic challenge, you will be paired with another model, and your task is to capture the essence and energy of your partner through your own portrayal. Your task is to mirror the likeness of your partner through the use of poses, gestures, and interactions, or even to channel your partner's energy, emotions, vibes, and aesthetics.

You will be submitting individually but it is very crucial that you talk with your partner with your submissions since you will be scored not separately but as pairs. Helping each other is the key to winning this challenge.

You have until August 25, 6 AM EST (so you have around 37 hrs and 15 mins) to submit. Posting late will only affect the individual who submitted late. Thank you and good luck! x

Anja was one of Karl Lagerfield's biggest muses. She posed for him in many campaigns, and often times had strong, angular poses that were simple, yet high fashion. She combined elements of feminine and masculine that gave her a distinct style. I think this picture of Tanya capture's that perfectly!

In my perception, Tanya Dziahileva is a model with unique characteristics and who talk a lot with the rehearsals she attends. Tanya's main mark, for me, without a doubt, is the shape of her face and the pose she leaves her face in each rehearsal. It's as if she talks to whoever is seeing the photo, in an almost intimate way. You can translate Tanya's emotions just by the look of her. It's incredible.

In my photo, I'm trying to demonstrate the power of the face, in the same way as Tanya in her photoshoots, in a striking way, with a penetrating and intimate look. The black and white tones are purposeful, creating an environment that leaves only Anja's gaze, as well as the position of her body, in the spotlight. A striking part of Tanya's photos, too, are the poses and minimalist character.

I reflect the image of Lacey ( my partner ) . Lacey as a model have a calm  face and at the same time sexy with a natural beauty without trying too hard. Even the outfits she chooses is simpler and more casual. Her movements are also calm and natural without much effort to point. Calmness and naturalness are what highlight it . So i think Chanel reflect quite well Lacey in this photo

When I think of Chanel, I think of a strong independent woman who is sexy and fierce and I think this is serving just that.

Alton #MEENson is here 👥. Xu Meen is definitely a machine to serve good and interesting shoots with fierce expressions while wearing authentic outfits. Be close to him in this competition helped me to feel and understand what his energy, thoughts and feelings means. He likes to be free and has a lot of confidence of himself. While Mason is day by day adding more movements and dynamic to his shoots, Meen has placing your bets on your visual, mostly with restrained poses but still expressing a strong and notable presence. This shoot is a quite proof that you can make an impact with few itens and that's exactly how I feel every time when I see something from him. With that said I would love to mention as well that I brought some references from our challenge #2 "Elemental Prince and Princesses" where Meen represented the earth of my group, that's explaining the background chosen. I also decided to wear something standardly considered feminine because I know really well how comfortable he feels wearing this kind of clothes. On our photoshoot #4 "Night Awards" he wore something pretty similar and checking his portfolio you can easily find many others proving that he's not afraid to try new things knowing that's definitely what makes him an unique model and incredible human bean.

Hunter Schafer as Violet Chachki

Hunter here resembles Violet in a variety of ways. For one, the color story is very pastel and pop-art like, something very consistent throughout Violet's work in which Hunter's is a lot more black-and-white. Additionally, Violet tends to have a softer facial expression when she poses as compared to Hunter, that this photo shows. Meanwhile, Violet often tends to showcase their body, primarily their legs and waist. This was accomplished by which the angle of the photo was taken, making Hunter's legs seem longer than they otherwise are with a dress that is very slim fitting. Violet, of course, is known for her corsetry. The outfit is also a lot more punk than is the norm for Hunter with the red latex gloves and boot shoe. Altogether, Hunter accomplishes mirroring Violet through her modeling, without having to paint on very aggressive drag makeup, maintaining her own sense of self.

I have been wondering how great the idea of this challenge is because this competition makes us spend  much time looking only at ourselves and then we forget to observe the others contestants. Working with Alton was wonderful and I think we were able to capture each other's essence easily. Both of us have different personalities but together we feel like a perfect unit.

Having said that, my choice was based on how creative and different Alton could be so far, during the paste weeks he has shown a lot of strength. He is not afraid to take risks and is always delivering different concepts of photos that highlight his posture, attitude and confidence.

In my photo I'm bringing all these characteristics. I can totally see Alton submitting something like this, my inspiration besides the amazing Alton came from some of the shoots he submitted in the competition. My pose reminds the fierce attitude from the first week with our Denim photoshoot as also the movement he used on the previous shoot. The details of my hands are inspired by the Hot 100 challenge and of course in general my photo is intended to represent all the excellence he has.

Hunters photo are super gorgeous. Like Hunter and am long and tall and cool. With Hunter there is a swag and a boss energy to them and that what I am portraying here. Hunter reads as not human but a muse.

Challenge #5: Parallels

So I always want to take risks here in Next Top Model, and last week's faulter won't trip me up. I also had a huge advantage in getting Xi as a partner because from (being on a season with her) watching her previous season I know she made it to brands week, and Xi was labeled as #Artistic

I relate myself a lot to her brand, but Xi also also a beauty and grace to it. Her aesthetic is very much royalty in way, she also plays into her chinese culture as every shot you can see a bit of her heritage and culture within it.

I wanted to portray just that in my photo, the photo isn't full body but I don't feel you need full body to really bring the intensity she brings in her photos, while also in my photo I'm showing the artist side of myself the royalty with the head piece signifying a "crown of thorns" and just overall leaning into my asian heritage and culture with this photo just as Xi would do.

This is such a beautiful photo and screams artistic intensity that brings a dash of Xi but also a dash of Sora.

What I have I noticed the most about Kai is the usage of vibrant colors, combined with intricate poses, and gripping eyes that tell a story.

Guinevere is seen embodying these qualities. She is seen posing in her elegant dress, while longing deeply into space, day dreaming while holding a cigarette. That's Kai in a nutshell for you. He likes to day dream, smoke cigarettes, and wear fancy clothes. He is also sensitive and sensible soul. In the house you see him being friendly with the players, and gets visibly sad whenever one of them gets eliminated. Guinevere is embodying that sensitive sensible side of him, as she is reminiscing over the recent elimination of Mia, one of the few people Kai was able to get along with. As far as the garment goes, the light blue color symbolises the soothing essence of his enery, and the fluidity of his submissions, just like water, they are forever flowing.

No matter which different style of outfit Guinevere presents herself in, there’s always something that’s consistent; a dramatic eye catching pose!

She’s confident in her body, as we have seen her embracing every inch of it. Indeed, she is agile and flexible with her moves, a statement of her dynamic personality.

With my shot I’m showing her edginess  as I am posing in a crop top confidently showing off my midriff. Im also brining out her desirability and femininity, while demonstrating total confidence through my body language and facial expressions while also brining out her flirtatiousness and playfulness that she brings into the house.

Long story short, Guinevere = daring, edgy, flirtatious, confident, sensual and the queen of poses!

Sora's style is described as grungy, raw, and casual, which aligns with her preference for making statements through her photoshoots. Keeping this in mind, I aimed to capture Sora's essence by incorporating elements that resonate with her artistic sense while reflecting her personality.

In my photo, I've utilized the concept of artistic expression and symbolism. The central focus of the image is a pair of scissors, strategically placed to create a powerful visual impact. The scissors symbolize a lifeline, embodying Sora's unique way of making bold statements through her work. The act of cutting through signifies her ability to break boundaries and explore new creative territories.

To reflect the colors mentioned, I've used a combination of red and blue tones. The red symbolizes passion, intensity, and the vibrant energy that Sora brings to her artistic endeavors. Blue, on the other hand, signifies depth, introspection, and the artistic vibe that she exudes. These colors not only evoke emotions but also underline the duality of her artistic persona.
